Hey there,

I'm not a member at dslr, so I thought I'd reply directly. I can't offer
input on their WorldCom offerings, but I have had the 1.5/128 basic here
in Cali for 4 months and love it (before that, I had 604/128 for over 2
years with them while I was in DC). As the other reply said, their phone
support has been wonderful and very fast in solving what few problems
pop up. They take care to inform you of any maintanence issues which
might interrupt your service (for instance, I got an e-mail two days ago
about an expected outage for POP maintenance this Wednesday, 11pm - 3am
PST).

I've had only a few minor problems with them in this time. Back in DC,
my original 604/128 plan gave me two static IPs, shell, dial-up and web
space at $50-something a month. About a year and a half into it, they
changed the deal and tried charging me for the IPs, shell and dial-up. I
raised a stink because there was no warning about any of it, and managed
to get my original plan restored. Moving here was a little bit of a
headache too, much of it due to the problems with sales people like the
other poster said (I was contacted by 3 different salepeople all
offering me the same thing.. None of them knew another was working with
me). But, I stuck with the original sales person and pestered him on the
phone and got it straightened out. Finally, when I was ready for the
self-install kit to come, Covad sent me (get this), an empty box with a
post card in it saying here's your self install kit, Welcome! The SE
folks were great in responding though, and were going to overnight a new
kit if my old hardware didn't work (I still had the SpeedStream from
DC).

Very rarely in DC (2-3 times in 2 years maybe), I had some latency
issues or an outage. A call to support and a power cycle of the modem
usually corrected it.

So, overall, I'm very happy with it. I love the fact that I have the
freedom to whatever the hell I want on my line (they *encourage* you to
run servers, for chrissakes), and I love all the support available.
They're continually improving service with POPs, new mail servers and
such, so if you got the basic on Covad, I imagine there'd be a POP in
your area in the not too distant future.

Phew, that was a lot. Hopefully it's helpful.

If it's a known issue (As it always has been) it should really be
addressed before we get more features. IMHO. My point is that
ducking is fine. From the player who's ducking's perspective,
it's fine. But the ability to make any movement that quickly,
especially one that ignores the path of the bullets (As
insta-duck does) doesn't realy make sense... I guess I'm the only
one bugged by this, or y'all are a bunch of insta-ducking M4
whores. :-P

Reply to:

hitboxes being messed is a known issue. whether they fixed or not
who knows.
I think everyone has resigned themselves to the bs/luck that is
sometimes
involved w/ cs.

as to the ducking thing, whats your point? thats the part of
every game
imho. ducking is ducking, and has always been an effective way
to dodge
fire in most every game out there.

also, scout is funn.

The only one I have is the one from the original wwcl. 2.0 package. I'm

Good point. I'm currently going around with XO communications. One of
their peers is sprintlink. seems they want to send me from chicago, to
washington, to NC, to New York city, then back to chicago to make 3 hops,
then finally to my provider. This routing table changed on dec 16th, and
has givin me and untold others a 40 ms loop to take a tour only to arive
in the very same place we departed from. They even routed one of my
users that lives just outside chicago the same way for 2 days. His ping
increased from 6 to almost 50.

I have multiple 10/100 drops to their OC192 backbone, giving me more
bandwidth than I could ever imagine using. but as long as they insist on
taking people on a tour of the country side, its doesn't do a damn bit of
good for gaming.

Now this isn't a cable or DSL line, the problem is much larger. I've
been looking over at internap lately, wondering if their systems really
do the trick. I still have some users in the game playing at 15-20
pings, but alot of my users on speakeasy, comcast, and yahoo have
been dramatically effected.
