Re: [hlds_linux] [STEAM] Riot Shield
The sound issue is a definite problem I hear about everytime I am in the server. As far as the shield bug..I found out the one I was referring to earlier and it does work if done properly. Buy a shield with your knife out..no pistol. close the shield buy and pistol and it opens. From then on with shield open you still can't be hurt. RE: [hlds_linux] Lan server Compaq Proliant 1600R Dual PII 300
I don't think that the difference would be noticable between LAN and internet. I've never tried it though, so I could be way wrong. On my xp2200 machine, i can have 12+ on my public, 10 on each private (2 privates), and 15 users connected to ventrilo with no issues. I honestly think you'll be fine with a 2GHZ machine running your servers. Note how ever this is all done with CS, no DOD. I don't know how itensive DOD is.. I only run CS servers. Just to satiate my curiosity, how many users could connect? Would 12 be able to be on, anyone actually run something similar? Oh, and Joshua, yes these are those old 5U servers with the hot swappable SCSI drives on it. Would a LAN server need to be more, less powerful or the same as one that is connected to the Internet? I would think perhaps less because if you turn off the Internet (except for VAC) wouldn't you get less port scans, thus less network utilization? Thanks again for the advice. [hlds_linux] HLTV Banner/Logo
In searching the hlds_linux list, I find one occurence (about a year ago) where some one inquired on the location of the hltv.tga and hltv.wad files (no hits in the win32 archive). the person didn't get an answer... I don't see these files in any of my folders. I'm just going to try and drop them in and see what happens. however, im a little unclear on the difference of these two files. // hltv.wad contains the HLTV banner and my be different on each proxy // banner format should be 240x48, 256 colors (same like player logo in pldecal.wad) // decalfile "hltv.wad" // hltv.tga will be shown instead of the default HLTV logo in spectator GUI // bannerfile "hltv.tga" both of these descriptions sound like they could be the file that is used to display where the default HLTV logo is displayed... which file do I actually need to display in the spectator gui? it sounds like the tga file, but then what is the wad file for? it says it is the banner, and that could also be the logo in the GUI... is there a definitive source for HLTV info somewhere?
