Re: [hlds_linux] Major HLDS CS problem
I switched from -pingboost 3, now using 1 which fixed the bug. This kinda sucks tho since the server isn't that good (6-20 ping, ~850fps) anymore. Ping avrg went up 5-10ms and fps is only ~350 now. I admit that the cpu usage is one third now compared to before but that I don't care about.:-) I guess this fixed the problem but it's still a huge bug IMHO. I mean, if you want to boost it maximum (Note: with no third party programs), then you should be able to do so. Guess I won't see a fix for this but I really hope, you VALVe ppl out there :-) -- Original Message -- From: Kalle Kiviaho [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 08:51:18 +0100 Quoting Jakob Andréen [EMAIL PROTECTED]: When running a 2.6.2+ kernel and -pingboost 3 the sys_ticrate shouldn't be more than 1000. Had the same problem with my server. Everything just went too fast, bomb plant/defuse in under 1 sec etc.. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I got this major problem with my HLDS running CS. I'll explain it in detail and I hope you can help me with this, it's very weird and I've never seen/heard of it before. It's a clean CS server with no mods running. The problem is as following, when you're reloading a weapon it reloads way to fast. When you throw a grenade, it detonates way to fast, something is running way to fast. This isn't happening for everyone just a few people but it still makes it unplayable - I'll explain later why this makes it totally unplayable. Please note that it isn't the client though, the clients ONLY experience this on my server, no where else. Things I've made to fix it(with no luck): Reinstalled steam completely. The server is a match server for top sweden clans, Matrix and adrenaline, even though only the matrix players have experienced the problem, many ppl around in sweden have experienced it though. The server is as good configured as it can be so please don't tell me to just lower ticrate or something similar, it needs to be top class for the players to be happy. I use -pingboost 3 tho, I don't know if this has boosted the server fps too much (?!) and caused the weird problem. I'm using the CPL server.cfg, which includes ticrate 10K and similar. -pingboost 3 is used as well as I mentioned before. It's a linux box with a default 2.6.2 kernel, default hz etc. 786MB DDR memory, 1800+ AMD CPU. The problem was discovered after I installed the 2.6.2 kernel. Start: screen -A -d -m -S matrix1 ./hlds_run -insecure -game cstrike +sv_region 3 -pingboost 3 +servercfgfile matrix1.cfg +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 13 Also, I've seen that when it's full (10 players), it sometimes uses 99.9% of the CPU. This kinda made me rise my eyebrown but it's ok, if that's what it needs to be top configured then go ahead. It's mostly at 60-70% CPU usage though. The server fps is allways between 900-1000 fps. That would be all, all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading this. It seems like that the HLDS cannot find the config-files... -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Namens Jay Carter Verzonden: woensdag 3 maart 2004 17:36 Aan: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Onderwerp: [hlds_linux] Re: steam update - Broken Server :( After the update, my server is not starting. Has anyone else experienced this? The server starts up, looks like everything is working fine but doesn't show up on HLSW and doesn't accept console commands. This is with Metamod and all addons removed, just vanilla HLDS and Cstrike. At 18.07 03/03/2004, you wrote: Yup. got the same problem. Not sure why. I restored the old binaries and restarted it. It doesn't work for me also using old binaries, still hangs. Hope it will work again when they'll finish the update, it stops in the same place where it stops with the new ones. Why don't you use the .torrent files for the servers? On Wed, 2004-03-03 at 17:51, Rock wrote: -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Yep. Nope, again in a week or so. Great, would it be possible to add a Referer header with the server IP to the Half-Life HTTP protocol? RE: [hlds_linux] Is the steam client ever going to work properly?
You are correct. This has been an 'ongoing beta test' and still is and will probable continue to be. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Sebastian Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 2:51 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Is the steam client ever going to work properly? it seems valve does not have the proper equipment, nor resources to manage a user base so large. to me the steam beta never ended. this all seems like a beta test to me. there is not ever been 1 update that went smooth, every single update since steam was suppose to be out of beta has been a nightmare. I guess this is valve's standard in saying something is working when it's not. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 2:21 PM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Is the steam client ever going to work properly? Maybe it doesn't help that before the update there was 4Gb/s available bandwidth on the content servers, and now there is only 2.2Gb/s available (and 2.3Gb/s used!!). I think valve should publish a white paper on 'valve logic.' It seems to defy everything we've come to believe, and this new logic NEEDS to be recognised, as it seems pretty standard! john On Wed, 3 Mar 2004, Steven Hartland wrote: I'm getting sick and tired of this constant rubbish. I think we've had quite enough time to get this working don't you. Please please please do something about it before we all go mad!!! RE: [hlds_linux] Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer
Yes - its weak and not working! Also - Failed to connect to 207.173.177.100:27032 You'd think valve would have implemented some type of 'baby sitting' system so we don't have to sit here and watch it fail. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Clanpubs.net Administrator Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 2:54 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer Yes, continuously -Jon Clanpubs.net Administrator [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Nelson Marques Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 2:31 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [hlds_linux] Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer Anyone got this one ? nmarques ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
