Re: [hlds_linux] hlds_l benefits of AMD 512kB cache?
I would go for the most cache, and in my opinion for game servers 512KB should be a minimum. There are some P4 models with 1MB that you can get for not much more. I just priced a DELL P4 2.8Ghz with 1MB cache, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD for $1,008. I would go for a 1MB cache processor if it were me or for an AMD setup I'd use Dual Athlon MP 2800+ Barton core (512KB cache). It wouldn't hurt to get a blazing fast SATA hard drive either and cheaper prices than SCSI. Check out the 10,000 RPM 74GB drive from Western Digital http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=65 So to answer your question, do not settle for less than 512KB of cache. - Original Message - From: "Nander Paardekooper" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, June 15, 2004 05:50 AM Subject: [hlds_linux] hlds_l benefits of AMD 512kB cache? > This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > Dear Readers, > > Does hlds_l(_amd) benefits of a 512kB cache core, or could i better take a > faster model without the 512kB cache and go for the standard 256kB cache? > Any comments on this? > > With regards, > > Nander Paardekooper. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
