I had the same problem. The installation is mixed. Probably you didn't
update your steam binary before or one of your *.blob is disturbing the
correct update. I deleted my *.blobs (backup them before) and got a
fresh steam-binary then it worked for me.

hmm, anyone know how to fix the 127.0.0.1 ip issue? Im still somewhat newb
to linux and rent a box, all my ip addresses are added in ifcfg-eth0,
ifcfg-eth0:0, and so on.  How would i make it so cs source picks up one of
those ips without the +ip???  Would adding the main ip to the host file
solve it without disrupting my connection to server??  do I need the line
127.0.0.1 in the host file??

Kind of, HLTV is part of the engine but you will be able to set the engine
to HLTV only mode. "cvarlist" is your friend.

It's available in the proc FS (as well as multiple CPU data) and
I'm sure there's a system call to grab it as well. I still think
having the DS autoconfigure the clock by itself is a good idea.
Many server admins are lazy / stupid / etc and this will only
confuse them more. Though it would be nice having the *option*
to set it ourselves. Heh, overclocked Source engine gaming :)

Would the detected CPU speed decrease if the CPU is not 100% idle when
the test is run? I can see that will cause problems if that is the case.

How about a little utility that can be run once (with nothing else
running) that will calculate the correct value, then the admin can

[hlds_linux] CS:S CPU Detection Questions

So, I have me a nice duallie PIII box. When I run the Source DS,
it only ever shows a single CPU. Is Source aware of multiple
CPUs (I know it's not SMP capable) or does it do what I think
it's doing, only checking features / running the little
detection algorithm? Also, what would make the frequency shift
by .1MHz between runs? I've seen 732.9, 733, and 733.1 MHz...

getting a different error with ./srcds_run using -debug. Also using RH8
which using glibc 2.3 which is the latest newest glibc linux emulation
available on FreeBSD other than the broken gentoo 1.4 port which I
believe also uses glibc 2.3

else mentioned getting this to correctly work on RH9 with glibc 2.3 so I

emulation lib directory into my srcds directory, and attempted to start

The server does a tight loop to determine a very accurate CPU speed (use
as the baseline time for the physics and networking engines). If the
binary can't get two scheduler timeslots consecutively after trying for
10 seconds or so then you get this error.
I am investigating other ways to accurately determine the CPU speed, in
the meantime you need to run the server on a machine that isn't under
heavy load (i.e isn't competing with other apps for CPU time slices).

I'm guessing you tried this, but figured I'd post anyways. I would think
that it'd be reading the cpu speed from linproc, which I believe needs
to be mounted for this happen, as BF1942 also reads the cpu speed and
this is how it needs to be done for that as well under FreeBSD. Just my
-2 cents.

[hlds_linux] Memory Leak causing high Cpu Usage?

Ever since the patch last time it has caused all the servers that I am
hosting to drain memory very quickly. Once all memory is drained and
paging/swap files are huge in size the cpu usage goes up to like 95-100%
load ( probably trying to make up for the lack of memory ). Servers are
averaging 50-70% Cpu Usage. Anyone else seeing this problem with servers? It
is sad how my Dual Xeons with 2 GB ECC Ram cannot save my servers with this
problem.

Could you clarify on this some? I was under the impression that the bug
wasn't mod specific as it was effecting all mods. Was this actually
fixed in a way that all mods will benefit?

the time.

You get "Invalid STEAM ticket" when you try to use the same Steam
account on two PC's at once. Quit CS:S, choose "Exit and Logout" from
steam and then log back in again and the message will go away. Don't use
that account again on another PC.

server before posting it to the list.

It is going very fast surprisingly enough, considering that the steam client
on all my cafe computers are running incredibly slow at the moment and
getting "Invalid STEAM ticket errors"

C-D fixed it, when those cvars were set, but only in c-d 4.23.0/1 -
4.23.2 removed the fix, as a possible fix from valve would interfere with
it.

It seems to work - at least for me ,-)

BTW. the bug ist also in CS 1.5 and old Half-Life - they will not patch it for them 
:-(
