Subject: [hlds_linux] Success with HLDS on AMD64?

I'm trying desperately to try and run a linux based dedicated server
with an AMD64 chip, but czero keeps crashing. Cleint side, I see
"Warning: Connection problem" and server side I see a segmentation
fault. I'm using my xp machine to play while the linux system serves, my
questiosn are these:
-Has anyone successfully run, os ir running, an AMD64 based linux
server? If so,What flavor of linux are you using?
-I tried to host dod on the system but after pulling it down with steam,
I can't run it ebcause there is no amd64.so dll for linux. Does one
exist? is anyone hsoting dod on a linux or amd64 system?
-what command line were you using to start czero, if you were doing it
successfully?
-Any bots at all?
Any help would greatly be appreciated guys, thanks.

RE: [hlds_linux] CS:S Maps

2004-09-27 Thread Mark Ellis
Alfred,

We are getting less and less players on our servers by the day, we used to
run 8 servers now we run 4 and may lose 2 of these by the end of the week as
they are not getting used.

Can we expect a release shortly ?

RE: [hlds_linux] How to raise FPS in Linux HLDS?

2004-09-27 Thread admin
I wouldnt bother - there is no noticable ping difference past 100fps. I have
tested and tested. kernel hz=1000, sys_ticrate 100, no pingboost. Thats what
I recommend - thats all i use on mine. RHE 3 p4 2.8ghz

If you have a 2.6 flavor kernel then its at hz=1000 already.

For 2.4 kernels look in the /usr/src/linux-2.4.xx/include/asm-i386/param.h
(thats from memory so it might not be correct but its in the include dir i
know that - lol) and look for the hz = 100 line and change it and recompile.

Subject: [hlds_linux] How to raise FPS in Linux HLDS?

Hi all,

I'm trying to raise the FPS in our Linux servers in order to improve the
ping,
but it seems to be stuck at 100 fps, even if I set sys_tricate to 1000 or I
use
-pingboost 1/2/3. We are currently using RedHat Linux Enterprise 3 WS in our
servers, which are P4 machines.

Should I take a look at the kernel HZ? I know how to modify this on Gentoo
but
not on RH.

Any suggestion will be welcome, thanks

RE: [hlds_linux] CS:S Maps

I think you'll find Alfred avoids legal stuff - that and the chances of
him giving us an answer when none of the huge websites for HL2 have that
answer is pretty slim ;)

Alfred, thanks for the info. Do you know - is the release of CS:Source
contingent on either A) the approval of the HL2 RC submitted to VUG, or
B) resolution of the legal situation between Valve and VU (i.e., is it
considered a wholly-owned Valve property?)?

Thanks,

Mike

RE: [hlds_linux] 32 player maps

Nope, our servers run wc3x, so the maps must be "normal" cause with aim maps
wc3x is kinda useless.
Cheers

Lo all,
Our servers are in desperate need of good quality 32player maps.
Does any 1 of you know about a map pack or something like it to get some
quality maps?
Cause havin 7 servers running dust 'n aztec (and clones) all the time
starts
to become boring :)
Already found a couple of quality maps, but it aint enough!
If there is no such map pack, is there any of you admins out there who
allowes me to download a couple of maps from your server?
Thanks,
Saint K.
