As for the unsubscribe . . . I dunno.
As for the problems with the the un-tar-ng. It looks like you might be
running tar as an unprivileged user AND tar really wants those
ownerships to be 1000:100. I never seen tar force the ownership like
that, but I did a quick look see and found this flag:
 --no-same-owner extract files as yourself
Try adding --no-same-owner and let us know if it helps.

yeah, I have an x800pro on a amd3200+ a64 w/ gig and I get that as well.
from my "research" it seems to always coinside w/ sounds... like
explosions, or gunfire, etc. its as if the sounds arent caching
correctly, and its loading from the disk or something. its very very
annoying. it started for me when 1.6 moved over to steam, got better
for a while, and now is back again, and I am not sure what fixes it.

Re: [hlds_linux] hlds on P3 800

2004-10-28 Thread Nathan Marcus
I've tried a server on a server with an exact same setup, and less Ram and
hit an odd problem. The server had no problem with connections to it, but
it kind of had a distance problem for me. I hosted it in western
Pennsylvania. People primarily connected from Ohio, Virginia, and West
Virginia. I had a friend in North Carolina, and one in Florida, and when I
gave the same info as the northern, closer states got, they couldn't find
the server. I was frustrated with this, but I happened to be fixing a P4
system at the time (someone sold it to me for 80 bucks 1.7 Ghz proccessor,
Gigabyte 8IPE-Pro 1000 mobo, 80 gig hard drive, pretty nice config. And get
this it was just BAD RAM lol) Well I took this as an obvious candidate
for the new server, redid it and my friends in North Carolina and Florida
could connect. So, as odd as it seems to sound, I think the conclusion in
my opinon of an 800 mhz P3 just has some type of issue with great distance
from the origin? Sound right to anyone else? But if its local
city/state/province, it will work.

Betreff: [hlds_linux] slots in use?

hi all,

i have a prob with the cs:s server: the server says 16/16 slots r in use
but there r only e.g. 10 players connected. it's not posssible to join the
server. all i can do is to restart the server, some hours later, the same
prob i'm not sure but i can imagine that is caused by this %n exploit
crashing all clients who r using the cracked cs:S version?

is it possible? what can i do?

btw: any ideas how to set up a good value for the minrate and maxrate vars
optmized for german adsl fastpath user?

EDIT, this is the result of http://search.hlsw.org

There appears to be a bug related to older AMD cpu's and the hand
optimised AMD ASM code we have (under linux), it is on the TODO list.

on Athlon Thunderbird
Couple things.
First, I really doubt there is a problem strictly related to
thunderbird CPU's. Sounds like pebcak to me. I could be 100% wrong.
Second, if a problem DID exist, it would be in their best interest to
fix it. A Tbird isnt that old, and you have to keep in mind that not
everyone in every country is privileged enough to be running the
latest and greatest hardware.

2004-10-28 Thread raoul bhatia
hi!
how many players per server? and is this a realistic task to do, or do you start
10 servers to try things out?
moreover, i would be interessted in the distribution you're using for the
opterons, as i plan to buy one myself.
best regards,

Whinge less, delete more. If you're on the list, you'll have to deal
with it.
