Re: [hlds_linux] [Completley OT] mrtg without snmp

2005-01-28 Thread Matthew Cheale
Indeed.
Just run the SNMP server on the box and it's the same as polling a router. Only
difference is the router comes with an SNMP server installed and running ;p
If it's BSD then the port net-snmp is what you want.

Running SNMP is not always wanted.
And thus, MRTG can run scripts to give the (maximum) 2 values of the graphs.

Thanks for all the replies. I actually found rrdtool to be better

what I wanted (well, all except the 95th percentile thing which would be

like small-frame 14 years old kids with these posts, guys :))) lol...

Well I think we've covered all three possible bases:

Either Melissa wanted to host a server off of a modem. We all agree -
don't be silly.
-or- Melissa wanted to host a server with a bank of modems, in which
case my answer applies about pppd.
-or- Melissa wanted to host a server primarily for modem users on the
internet in general, in which case the server settings provided by
someone else are handy and possibly the high ping only plugin also
suggested. Also the note that you can never fully remove the broadband
advantage (nor stop them playing at all unless you have your own modem
pool and use option 2)

I once got the problem as well (few months ago), wasn't client related,
seemed to be server side.. I did reinstall the game and it didn't fix it..
I'd say, try a -verify_all . Anyways, never saw the problem since :)

C'mon guys, i don't really understand it all. This is a linux server list,

I'm a software guy. I have working hw, if it not works, i call for an
engineer. Why? Beware the developer, who has a screwdriver in his
pocket!.
LKML guys would argue about your statement; I have doubts too... :-)

Re: [hlds_linux] Kernel panic with bots enabled ...

2005-01-28 Thread Adam Pearse
I was doing 8, I'll going to leave it without bots for the weekend and
see if it stays up. If so, I'll slowly start adding bots every couple
of days.

Hey all, I am running 2.6.10-1.9_FC2 and am getting kernel panic when
bots are enabled. I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Here is the details of the panic ... (this has happened 3 times over a
course of a week since bots were enabled)
