[hlds_linux] Can we get a status on VAC2??

2005-03-04 Thread Brian J. holmes
My servers are being flooded with players using the new multihack that
includes an advanced aimbot. Can we please get an update on when VAC2
might be released? Or at least how far along it is?

2005-03-04 Thread ruwen
Hi!

Is it normal that you can win in the first round $ 14000 as a T?
I tested it on dust2 and de_aztec. You need two Terrors.
Both Terrors go to Bombspot B. Then Terror 1 ducks down (and never stop
ducking until the round is over) and Terror 2 jumps on his head and plants
the bomb on his teammate (Terror 2 musts stand). After the bomb detonates
all terrorist start the next round with + $ 14000.

It is not always reproducable. It works on Linux and Windows, but I had
more success on Windows. I tried it without using any plugins (I disabled
metamod).

Here you can find a german movie which shows the bug on de_aztec:

i saw that weird lag last night after setting tickrate to 40.
i changed it to 44 and the problem went away.
i'll probably take off the -tickrate option and let them stay at 33.
and are you using mani or some other admin mod?

70 slots on a 3.4 does in fact work quite nicely on an OC3, however I notice

will eliminate that all together.

Still makes you American btw.. :)

I find a 16 player source server uses about 60% peak of a 1gig processor.

I think 70slots on a 3.4 should just fit, might have problems if all servers
are full though.

Clever idea. I think this is one of those cases where DNAT is a good
choice. Something like (untested):
iptables -t NAT -A PREROUTING -s uni-address -p udp -sport 27016 -j DNAT
--to-destination myserver:27015
You need to enable forwarding on the server. In /etc/sysctl.conf:
net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1
I've also used a program called udpproxy for stuff like this. I run some
Tribes2 servers and sometimes the master servers go down for an extended
period. We switch the servers to LAN mode and use udpproxy to make all
clients appear to be running on the host itself, which gets around the
class B network restriction. Then we hand out the address and port to the
regulars in our forum.

I've managed to run three source servers on one dual 3.4 Xeon box connected to

blocked port 27015, I don't want to change the server IP as Its a pain and I'll
