As I previously stated. if you want to continue to sell it, then it needs
to have continued support. Valve continues to market the game via STEAM and as
such needs to commit to supporting it. Fair is fair and the back catalog is
being marketed yet. Its not like many of these issues have not been around for
a long time. For instance Host_Error: UserMsg: Not Present on Client 57

This effects any server with player slots above 26, no matter the bandwidth
available (and yes we have 3.0 dual xeons with only 4 servers on the box, with
only one large pub). It is occuring on both windows and linux servers and the
issue has been brought to support only to get this reply: You will want to
joing the HLDS mailing list and post your questions regarding this issue. We
cannot provide in depth support for HLDS And yes Alfred is aware of this
problem yet it has remained an issue for over a year now.

This problem IS occuring in all VALVe mods using hlds from CS to CZ, NS and
TFC. That is why you see very few 32 player servers and if you do, you will
not last long before half the server gets dropped with the error message
sitting in your console. So how about at least fixing this issue, being as it
has been left for so long to plague servers?

Discussion is what we are having... blowing it off as being a maturity issue is
not addressing the issue at hand. As for the age of the software... if you
sell the software via STEAM today then for all practical purposes it is
one day old and the support should be in place.

They have no obligation to do any such thing. You don't pay for a
service. In fact, the software you are complaining about (dedicated
server) is a free download. Get over yourself already.

products as needed. And in the specific case of Valve's library of

no fee to run the game server products, those game server products being
run by the community are the lifeblood of Valve's software. What you're
basically saying is, H...as a server admin, Valve isn't charging me
to do them a favor. You're supporting and helping to create a market

well. They may seem a little slow-moving from time to time, but for the

I wonder what the developer work effort is between Valve products...

I severely doubt it will happen ! but I would love to know from any Valve
employee how many man
hours or how much team effort is being given to hlds/l, counter-strike,
counter-strike:source,
VAC2, DOD:source and even 'other upcoming projects'.

If we knew for definite that hlds support was never going to pick up again and
for work to
stop in the near future (if not already), hlds server providers could steel
themselves for a move

Is there a date announced for DOD:source ?

No date for DOD Source no, not that what I've heard. Though your on about
providers that could steel themselves for a move, well msot providers would
of already moved most of their systems over.

I for one moved the majority unless otherwise requested, moved over to
srcds, it was very un-troublesome and pretty pain free moving over. Plus you
know that Valve will support it, and any major issues which will obviously
crop up will be fixed to a certain degree of speed.

Strange. I see

and over this just two command line parameters:

SourceTV can only serve one client and can't be used as relay proxy.

Anyway, thanks for your help
