RE: [hlds_linux] Selecting specific content servers
Alfred has given out the specific process of which content server you get allocated about 4 months or so ago I cant remember it but a quick list history search may turn it up if you want to go rooting. IIRC he said the client pings a list of content servers and the lowest pinging server gets selected (dont quote me on that). Re: [hlds_linux] Unable to load plugin
Hi I volunteer for the Cyber Athletic League (www.caleague.com) and I have been asked to compile a plugin written for Counter-Strike Source on Linux. I did not write the plugin code, I am just compiling it. The plugin is called CAL Server Plugin or CSP for short. My understanding is that the plugin checks for specific variables for changes/aliases and kicks the player and alerts the other players on the server. pretty cool plugin... This is what I see in console on server startup: [EMAIL PROTECTED] source]$ ./srcds_run -game cstrike -map de_dust2 Auto detecting CPU Using SSE2 Optimised binary. If you manage to compile your plugin under linux, please let me know how you did, since I'm searching since one month why my plugin is compiled, but not loaded under linux... Keep flaming away please... What you need to remember is that every one was new to something once. If it helps the guy make his servers better, and helps the community, then why should it not be on here. It was a really quick and simple question which produced good results (e.g HalfD which I didn't know of, and Stephane's script, so it was a worthy thread) althought this has now been made a mountain from a mole hill. It was hardly off topic now was it... Someone asking how to keep their server open when exiting putty. Is this in CS Source? If so, I think the round has to end first. RE: [hlds_linux] Unable to load plugin
The best place for coding questions is either the hlcoders mailing list (subscribe via http://list.valvesoftware.com/) or the Source Developer WIKI (located at http://developer.valvesoftware.com ). I suspect your problem is missing symbols in the binary, run ldd -d plugin file to get a list of unresolved symbols. You are also building outside of the SDK environment (which has some support tools and source code), that may be hampering your efforts. In particular it includes a program called vcpm that converts a windows vcproj file to a Linux Makefile (so no need to craft your own). Check out the Source Plugins page on the Developer WIKI for details. - Alfred Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rich Sent: Sunday, July 31, 2005 10:13 PM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: [hlds_linux] Unable to load plugin I apologize ahead of time for the length of this message, but there's a lot to explain. I volunteer for the Cyber Athletic League (www.caleague.com) and I have been asked to compile a plugin written for Counter-Strike Source on Linux. However, the plugin will not load into CS:Source. One question I have, is the serverplugin_empty.vcproj needed/used by Linux? I wouldn't think so, but one never knows. I did not account for it in my Makefile and the code compiles without it. RE: [hlds_linux] Selecting specific content servers
That description is correct, though it is not an ICMP ping but an application layer one. The hldsupdatetool caches its selected server(s) for a week, after that time it re-queries Steam to see if a better server has appeared. - Alfred Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of McCormack, Chris Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 1:04 AM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] Selecting specific content servers Alfred has given out the specific process of which content server you get allocated about 4 months or so ago I cant remember it but a quick list history search may turn it up if you want to go rooting.
