Since the source client itself uses in the URL as protocol tag HL2, have u tried using a regular link as: Hl2://playground1.esports.thecenter.at:27015 Should work if the client is consistant with itself. Remember that the client throws such an URL via referrer if it download resources of a contentserver. The steam protocol-sign would start a new instance - or not?! Who knows. Anyone tried those possibilities already?! May share the results with us? Simon -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Regime Gesendet: Mittwoch, 9. [hlds_linux] Re: Re: http downloads
i'm not worrying about servers, i'm worrying about people who post the URL in forums so other gamers can download that stuff with a web browser. Ah.. there is another option. You just rip out all the entities from your downloadurl maps with an editor like EntEd. Since servers send all entities to the client once they join, this doesn't affect the map or anything. If they will put them on their own server it will fail to load, and if it even does load it will be malformed and unusable. Yours will however load because your server contains the unaltered. Re: [hlds_linux] setup query
Ok - those commands should certainly come in useful for sure. But when I look in my dir as it stands (/home/username/srcds_l) all I have in the directory right now is the following: hldsupdatetool.bin readme.txt steam No sign of any counter strike file reference - now I'm not sure if that's due to the failed ./steam command (tyring to get the relevant ports opened) having not downloaded things like the needed CS files. But hopefully I'll get that sorted out soon. But thanks to all so far for the help - it's much appreciated :) Jay. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

RE: [hlds_linux] svc_bad
Hi, ive seen this happen on both a windows or linux server. This is usually caused by a few of the following things: ticrate being to high aka sys_ticrate If your server is abit thin on bandwidth this would cause the samething This ones rare case but if your sv_maxupdaterate is higher than your sv_maxrate this can create a bottleneck in connection and cause the kick. hope this helps, Darren From: Saint K. Hi, Thanks for the reply. The server is a Dualcore Athlon 4200+ machine with 2GB matched mem and a tyan mobo. The connection speed is 100Mbit/sec. sys_ticrate is set on 300, and -pingboost 3 is set too. But i dont think thats to high is it? sv_maxrate is set at 2 sv_maxrate is set at 90 I'm pretty much clueless on whats happening here. oh yeah i forgot about the -pingboost . theres some recommendations for you to try, i use these settings myself and i do alot of testing. so use these and you should be fine use -pingboost 2 (theres a good reason for this if you want to know more please ask) use sys_ticrate 200 If you want to know more or still have any problems ask me again , good luck with that Darren From: Saint K. It plagued my server for some time then just went away. I don't think anyone know why it happens yet. You've written sv_maxrate twice in your email. Hopefully that's a typo and in your server.cfg file the 90 value is sv_maxupdaterate. If you have it specified twice, or your maxrate is 90 and updaterate is 2, then no wonder you're having trouble.
