RE: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Dedicated server update

2006-11-16 Thread Alfred Reynolds
You need to run the server from the directory it is installed into, i.e the
command line should be "./hlds_run -game X ...". You CANNOT run
"/path/to/hlds_run -game X ...".

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Dedicated server update

2006-11-16 Thread Vincent H.

Alfred,

Any ideas please ? :-)

Vincent H. a écrit :

Hello Alfred,

So, for explain the situation since the start, this problem is appear
from this update.

We are at a hoster of game server. We have no acces to ssh or others.

Since this update, when the server crash, the VAC does not restart, and
the server crash indefinitely with this following error: "FATAL ERROR
(shutting down): SteamGetEncryptionKeyToSendToNewClient: Returned
NULL!".

MetaMod 1.19p28 and AMX MOD X 1.76b are installed. Before this update,
we had any problem.

For restore all in running, we are obliged of:

- Deactivate AMXX in plugins.ini file of metamod
- Delete the .steam/ClientRegistry.blob
- Shut down and restart the server
=> NB : VAC is also loaded without Amxx
- Reactivate AMXX in plugins.ini file of metamod
- Do a change map

And after this the VAC and Amxx are loading fine. But we are obliged to
do this manipulation many time per day.

What let us must do Alfred ? This is the first time we have this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We are a cs 1.6 server at a game hosting. Actually server is crashing
every minutes with this error :

"FATAL ERROR (shutting down):

Server is running on linux. It's all that I know.

What am I supposed to do now ? :-(

[hlds_linux] Counter-Strike: Source and Source Engine Update Released

2006-11-16 Thread Jason Ruymen
Updates to Counter-Strike: Source and the Source Engine have been
released. Release run hldsupdatetool to receive these updates. The
changes are:

Counter-Strike: Source:
- Fixed a crash which could occur if the dynamic weapon price list
failed to download

Source Engine:
- Added new cl_restrict_server_commands to prevent unwanted commands
being run on game clients. The default value is 1, valid settings are:
0 = Don't restrict any server commands.
1 = Restrict server commands in Valve multiplayer games.
2 = Restrict server commands in all multiplayer games.
- Decreased startup time in some cases by rate-limiting the packets sent
to clients during logon
- Improved responsiveness when entering map areas with lots of entities
by automatically compressing large packet updates

Make sure the relay proxy is not in "tv_dispatchmode 2". Should be 0 or
1 if you want this to be used for spectators.

Subject: [hlds_linux] TV Source problems

Is anyone else having trouble using TV Proxy connections? We get the
server is up and SRC TV is up as Master Only. Relay server is up and
connected. When a client tries to connect to the Relay server, they get
(No SourceTV relay available).

We have searched steam postings and did not see anything related to this
issue. This was working prior to the update for dynamic pricing. We
have verified that the master relay is working.

I would double check network connection, disable auto duplex
negotiation on both switch and nic and check any qos or traffic
shaping software if installed.

For quick test run "mtr -i 0.01 hostname" (1000 packets/s) as root for icmp
test. You can
also check it with udp datagrams (google for udp testing software).

I would also check nic drivers as they can also cause problems.

DMA is of course enable. Also 32bit mode and unmasked interrupts.

Maybe the memory timings are bad. I don't have access to the BIOS,
maybe I should make a call to the data center.

Network is also 100base full duplex.

My problem is, that this happens since September. Wasn't there a HLDS
update that had some major changes to the scheduling/timers?

Still check the bits mentioned, like half duplex and dma on hard drive.
Although its only evident with hlds, it could still be thats the only app on
there which will highlight the problem rather than it being the actual cause
of the problem itself.

I never had problems with hlstats or mysqld. My server ran smooth
before September.

I tried HotSaNIC, and it just tells me the same as my scripts:
load goes up, but nothing special that should be mentioned.
CPU stays low, memory grows up a bit.
I still have no clue what the problem is ... must be something plain
simple ...

And I only get the spikes if I run the HLDS binary.

Martin
