Meanwhile, i have build a 2.6.29-rc1 an Debian SID.

The Cpu Usage is nearly normal!!!

The lags nearly dissapeard!!!

Ping with all Kernel below Version 2.6.29-rc1 40-50ms, lags, crashes, 
high cpu usage
Ping with a new 2.6.29-rc1 20-30 ms, nearly no lags, no crashed yet, 
nearly normal cpu usage!

I think Valve should fix this Problem!

Torn has always had high cpu usage.  Since the day it came out.

test on Gentoo,
no Debian stable, nor lenny, nor sid...

Meanwhile i tested on Lenny --> Problem still there. Tried with Sid --> 
Problem stil there!

On Gentoo with C2Q NO Problems with de_torn.

[hlds_linux] Problem with SourceTV. It is allocating 27014 port, why? :/

Hi,

I have problem with SourceTV on my server.
It is constantly allocating 27014 port. I don't know even why?

That is the start command line:

./srcds_run -game cstrike -tvmasteronly +ip xx.xxx.xxx +tv_enable 1 +tv_port
26058 +map de_dust2 +sv_consistency 0 -tickrate 100 +exec server.cfg
+fps_max 600 -port 27058 -maxplayers 11

+tv_port 26058

And yes it is using this port in server but also as i can see in linux
console it transfer some data by 27014 :/


 version : 1.0.0.34/7 3531 secure
 udp/ip  :  xxx.xxx.xxx:27058
 map :  de_dust2 at: 0 x, 0 y, 0 z
 sourcetv:  *port 26058*, delay 30.0s
 players :  1 (11 max)

Do you have any idea how to stop it?
On 27014 i have public which won't start due to STV :/

I tried now on Gentoo stable (march=nocona) and Intel Core2Quad.

The problems dissappeared.

Problems were unsolvable under Etch stable and Intel Xeon or Amd Opteron 
CPUs.

I will make some other tests an hopfefully find the Problems.

Could be the glibc or the CPU...

[hlds_linux] Problem with Crashes / segfault

we hve installed a new kernel on our rootservers yesterday. Now e have 
some kind of failures and i cant find anything about it:

Alle servers crashes sometimes Anyone an idea to solve it? Maybe... 
Wich kernel function hve problems?

No it isn't - valve did not update the linux servers yet after the 
client update :(

No DOD:S-linux-server is working currently nor can be reached from any 
updated client.

I hope this will be fixed TODAY!!!

HLDS installation up to date

I'm seeing the same thing -- my Linux update client downloaded a new 
client.dll and server.dll, but its server_i486.so is still dated July 2. It 
looks like Valve forgot to ship out an updated server_i486.so. I hope that 
someone at Valve sees this and fixes the situation on Tuesday.

Since tonight's release required a server update to allow DoD:S clients to 
connect (on both Windows and Linux), it probably should have been announced 
here on the list and marked as required through an updated PatchVersion.
