[hlds_linux] Multihomed Port Issues
I'm having some major issues with source based games. We currently have a root server with Cent5 x86_64 running. This machine has 1 nic but has multiple ip's. Even with games seperated by ip, the default port 27015 is incrementing and not able to be set to that for the default on other ip addresses. I will use class c addressing to illustrate. ie: DODS - 192.168.2.100:27015 - eth0 TF2 - 192.168.2.101:27016(auto-incremented) - eth0:0 So how can I resolve this? The aliases are set proper but the source games are still detecting the port in use. Re: [hlds_linux] hlds_run bugs
I put my corrected version up in my svn repository. This is based on the latest hlds_run included with the "-beta hlds0319" version of hlds. http://cstrike.dynamicbits.com/svn/viewvc.cgi/svn/linux%20scripts/hlds_run?revision=47&view=markup If that link wraps, use this one: http://tinyurl.com/hlds-run-r47 There are a few other script in there that some may find useful. Just go up to the parent directory. For anyone that read over the code samples in my previous message in this thread, please note that I messed up the one line with grep in it. The above linked file has it implemented properly. That's what happens when I write code in the browser late at night without running it. -- Andy On Mon, 23 Mar 2009 12:00:52 +0100, "Ferenc Kovacs" said: > On Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 11:49 AM, > wrote: > > > There are a few bugs in hlds_run that have been bugging me for some > > time, and I hope posting them here might get it noticed by someone > > at Valve who can fix them. ... > > > I need that one. Thanks for the proposal. > > Tyrael ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Re: [hlds_linux] [hlds] WARNING regarding latest Unnanounced TF2 Update!
This fix is now live, run hldsupdatetool to grab it. The TF2 update today contained only client side fixes (hence the lack of update email), unfortunately the TF2 depot is shared between the client and server causing the update to apply to servers also. This update updates the other binaries needed to work with the new server.dll but doesn't change server functionality. There is no update for Linux servers (as one isn't needed). > -Original Message- > From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds- > boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Alfred Reynolds > Sent: Monday, March 23, 2009 5:39 PM > To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list > Subject: Re: [hlds] WARNING regarding latest Unnanounced TF2 Update! > > We will have a fix out shortly for win32 dedicated servers. [hlds_linux] hlds_run bugs
There are a few bugs in hlds_run that have been bugging me for some time, and I hope posting them here might get it noticed by someone at Valve who can fix them. In the hlds_run file is the following code: if test 1 -eq $PID_FILE_SET && test -n "$PID_FILE"; then HL_CMD="$HL $PARAMS -pidfile $PID_FILE" else HL_CMD="$HL $PARAMS" fi What it does is check if the PID_FILE_SET variable equals 1 and the PID_FILE variable is not empty. If both of those tests pass, then it appends the -pidfile argument (along with the contents of the PID_FILE variable) to the list of arguments to pass to the actual binary. The problem is that if the list of arguments already contains this information, -pidfile is passed to hlds_run more than once. You end up with command lines like this: ./hlds_amd -debug -game cstrike -pidfile /usr/local/hlds/hlds.pid +maxplayers 17 +map gg_pool_day -pidfile /usr/local/hlds/hlds.pid What the code should be doing is adding those arguments if the -debug parameter was passed, AND the -pidfile argument was not passed. Fixing this one gets a little messy. (Related issue: PID_FILE_SET variable should be removed from the code completely.) Here's code that does what is is supposed to do and also sets a value for the pidfile if the user doesn't properly pass it after -pidfile (the arguments would look like "hlds_run ... -pidfile" in this erroneous case). PID_PASSED="`grep -e -pidfile $PARAMS`"; if test -n "$PID_PASSED" || test -n "$DEBUG"; then if test -z "$PID_FILE"; then PID_FILE="hlds.$$.pid" fi fi if test -n "$DEBUG" && test -z "$PID_PASSED"; then HL_CMD="$HL $PARAMS -pidfile $PID_FILE" else HL_CMD="$HL $PARAMS" fi Just above that code we find this gem: if test "unlimited" != `ulimit -c` && test "`ulimit -c`" -eq 0 ; then ulimit -c 2000 fi It checks if the output from "ulimit -c" is not equal to "unlimited" AND the output from "ulimit -c" equals 0. If it equals 0, it certainly isn't equal to "umlimited" or anything else besides 0. The first line should simply be: if test "`ulimit -c`" -eq 0 ; then The steam user and password junk should all be removed since that hasn't been required in ages. Also, the comment for line 25 has a typo, and is flat out wrong. If anyone wants the file with all of the fixes in it, let me know and I'll post it somewhere. (You too Valve; don't be shy.) With that said, I'm glad to see that hlds_run was actually modified in the hlds0319 beta. -- Andy ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Engine Update released
Ok, I got it to work. You don't pass it as an argument to hldsupdatetool, but rather to steam: $ ./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir . -verify_all -beta hlds0319 It updates engine_amd.so, engine_i486.so, engine_i686.so, hlds_run, libtier0_s_linux.so, libvstdlib_s_linux.so, proxy_i386.so, and steamclient_linux.so. The new hlds_run fixes the FreeBSD processor check, re-enables the cpu family >= 15 check, removes the 64-bit checks, and adds a CPU=K8 check only for FreeBSD machines that lack /usr/compat/linux/proc/cpuinfo. This new behavior means my Pentium 4 server now uses hlds_amd instead of hlds_i686. I haven't checked any other machines yet, but performance doesn't seem to be noticeably different either way on this one. I played on this particular server and didn't notice anything wrong. Nothing abnormal shows in the log files either. If this really fixes the INVALID_STEAM_TICKET problem, I'll be extremely happy. No more phone calls to reboot! -- Andy On Mon, 23 Mar 2009 09:26:49 +0100, "Ferenc Kovacs" said: ... > It should be appended to the updater, and you should see that its > downloading a couple of files. > Tyrael ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Engine Update released
Has anyone gotten this to work, or is there any way to tell if the beta version is running? I've tried adding "-beta hlds0319" with and without quotes as an argument to hldsupdatetool.bin, and as an argument to hlds_run. Passing it to hldsupdatetool.bin gives an error both with and without quotes. Passing it as an argument to actually start the server starts the server, but there is nothing indicating that the beta version is running. -- Andy On Fri, 20 Mar 2009 14:57:41 -0700, "Alfred Reynolds" said: > The beta has been updated. .
