I thought the hardlimit on slots was in place due to Orangebox Engine performance/limitations? Do existing extra-slot plugins not allow 64 players? Engine - Removed an exploit that allowed people to change their names to something other than their Steam profile name. Does this now mean that Server Admins will not be able to change players names that are abusive or racist? We have noticed since CSS went O/B that all rename plugins are broken and I presume TF2 aswell now. Simiancage run family friendly servers, we have a no swearing policy and abuse that includes dodgy names is not tolerated. [hlds_linux] latest CS:S update - segfaults using ./steam
My server runs an old version of Linux - Suse 9.0, kernel v2.4.21, 64 bit mode, circa 2004. The latest HLDS update tool gets the corresponding "steam" program (v39) and it only segfaults. I have been able to run prior to this but have not updated in a while (36 maybe). I tried all the tricks about deleting the blob files in the ~/.steam directory and even the directory itself, but to no avail. Is there a minimum kernel level that the Orange Box version requires to run now? Up to this point, I have really had no reason to update my OS. [hlds_linux] Team Fortress 2 Update Available
A required update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. This is also an optional update for Counter-Strike: Source, since it fixes a bullet penetration problem on Linux servers. The specific changes are: Server Browser - Server browser now starts centered onscreen when it opens up. - Filter panel now starts expanded, instead of hidden. - Added a warning dialog that pops up to warn players joining games with more than the recommended number of players. - Added a "max player count" filter setting. - Renamed quick list checkbox from "Show Map List" to "Simplified List". - Mouseover the checkbox now explains the simplified list in the status bar. - Quicklist now shows the number of other servers running each map. - Fixed a couple of bugs related to toggling the quick list, which were resulting in you needing to refresh again. Team Fortress 2 - Added missing earbud particles for DX8 players. - Added new ConVar mp_windifference_min to be used with mp_windifference. - Added Engineer to the list of classes that can equip Max's Pistol. - Rebuilt sound cache files that were out of date. - Source TV: - Fixed unlockable items not being visible. - Stopped "player is carrying X" messages looping forever. - Fixed overhealed particle effect being visible on your current view target when in first-person spectator mode. - Changed in-game button colors to be less eyepoppingly bright. - Improved Steam Web APIs for TF2 items (see http://www.teamfortress.com/) Engine - Fixed some graphical issues when alt-tabbing during a game. - Fixed bullet penetration problems with Linux dedicated server. - Removed an exploit that allowed people to change their names to something other than their Steam profile name.
