Re: [hlds_linux] Australian Christmas Update

2011-12-14 Thread Russell Smith
Based on the following snippet from the tf2.com blog, I would say it
won't be out until some time next week at the earliest:

Part One of our Australian Christmas Update Announcement, and *don't
forget to check back tomorrow for* Announcement Part Two and, more
importantly,*the update itself*.

Just because *the update's coming tomorrow* doesn't mean you shouldn't
be playing RIGHT NOW, because guess what: Double drop rates start
tonight! They're only around until next Wednesday, so get in there and
take advantage of all the double dropping!

Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-14 Thread Steve Dudenhoeffer
Aim maps are notoriously unstable for me, also running on Linux. Any map
that manipulates a player's starting weapons or has a weapon_strip entity
in it will eventually cause a crash somewhere inside of CS's weapon
handling code, almost as though there's an invalid pointer inside of a
player's weapon pack or something. I've tried everything to fix it, and
nothing helps so it's just something I live with now.

Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-14 Thread doc
What does "tried everything" mean?

If you completely reinstalled the software on another machine (different
hardware) and it's STILL giving you problems then I would say there is a
very big problem with srcds.

But you probably didn't try different hardware and I'm just being pedantic
to point out the importance of people listing off exactly what they've done
so far.

Also some maps will crash hlds/srcds if they have type-case problems
(uppercase names crash Linux or something where Windows will find the right
file/resource).

unfortunately. But I can confirm that we know what the problem is and the fix

If you love Valve so much, then why do you try to singlehandedly
destroy its game with your fake-clients, server redirects, and
pay-2-win bullshit?

On topic, your no Steam login issues might also be happening due to
your editing of the Steam network stack to give fake-clients. None of
my clients have ever had no Steam login in months, except when they
crash their client. Remove all your fake-players plugins and you will
stop having no Steam login troubles :-)

It updated now. I'm thinking it might not be a cache, but some manual

The latter is just an IP, so 3rd party tools can no longer rely on
specific ports being used as it was described in the VDC:

It will be fixed today, and my apologies for the inconvenience.

This bug should only affect TF2 servers.

Hello Fletch!

Today there were this problem again:

14.12.2011 at 02:00:53. German timezone (UTC+ 01:00, Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern,
Rom, Stockholm, Wien)

Please view the whole serverlog here. It shows you all connections and
disconnections the whole day. Also you can see the Steam-IDs there:

IP-Address: 193.192.59.120:27100
http://info.c2play.de/server_logs.php?year=2011&month=12&day=14-12-2011&serv
er=193.192.59.120:27100&show=-1&lines=-1

Here is the direct link to 02:00:53:

http://info.c2play.de/perm_2011_12_14-12-2011_193.192.59.120_27100_298

You see, between 02:00:53 and 02:00:55 there were kicked 7 players with "No
steam logon".

-

On another server, the same time (02:00:25) got this messages:

IP-Address: 193.192.59.120:27650
http://info.c2play.de/perm_2011_12_14-12-2011_193.192.59.120_27650_199

Also here (02:00:33):

IP-Address: 193.192.59.120:27000
http://info.c2play.de/perm_2011_12_14-12-2011_193.192.59.120_27000_130

Also here on CS:S Beta-Server at 02:00:57 (thats another IP and another root
server):

IP-Address: 193.192.59.135:27300
http://info.c2play.de/perm_2011_12_14-12-2011_193.192.59.135_27300_205

There were 8 players kicked.

I hope I can help you with this! We are running Linux on our servers.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Laurenz Ruprecht

Running several servers on a machine, only one of them keep crashing. Tried
everything.. Nothing in serverlogs, but I'm getting core dumps and dumps in
/tmp/dumps..
How to open them? How do I find out what the problem is? I think its HLDS that
have problems with different custom maps.

Re: [hlds_linux] Public IP - Private IP error follow friends servers from steam.

2011-12-14 Thread Roman Hatsiev
I reported this issue to Valve some time ago. Current workaround is to use
-steamport in your command line and forward steamport and steamport+1 on
your NAT. There is a sv_master_share_game_socket variable which should
instruct server to use game port instead of steamport+1 but it is ignored
by the engine at the moment.

Roman

I am pretty sure it's a mix of bad admins doing bad stuff ("fishy server
comparison"), and admins not setting proper sv_region values. There is
nothing you can do to fix it, other than asking Valve to delist the bad
servers - which will hopefully happen soon.

[hlds_linux] Broken server browser location filter

2011-12-14 Thread lwf
It would appear as if something has gone wrong with the location
filter in TF2. All servers, with very few exceptions, appears only
using the "US - East" filter regardless of actual location.
Personally I only get 2 servers using the "Europe" filter. I had an
admin confirm and he had the same problem, with the curious addition
of a few odd servers. Figured that might be of interest as well.

Re: [hlds_linux] Public IP - Private IP error follow friends servers from steam.

2011-12-14 Thread David Parker
If it's a public server, then there shouldn't be any "private" IP. You should
specify the public IP of the box using "+ip aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd" in the command
line. Is you server behind a NAT?

To solve the problem do use +IP 0.0.0.0 in the startline.

Hello,

We have seen that the servers for Counter-Strike Source and Team
Fortress 2, use a public and private ip, we have realized that the
private IP is added in the start server line +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. and
the public IP is the first IP assigned to the network card.

version : 1.0.0.68/19 4743 secure
udp/ip : xxx.xxx.xxx.32:27165 (public ip: xxx.xxx.xxx.140)

+ip xxx.xxx.xxx.32 port 27065
udp/ip : xxx.xxx.xxx.32:27065

first IP assigned to the network card.
(public ip: xxx.xxx.xxx.140)

I think this is causing an error connecting to the server to those who
want to follow other friends from steam. I believe there is another
error, while playing in quickplay.

Anyone knows anything about this? Do you know how to make the public
and the private IP same?

Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 master server acting up?

2011-12-14 Thread Didrole
The current hl1 master servers are :
69.28.158.131:27012
68.177.101.62:27011
69.28.158.131:27011
68.177.101.62:27010

The file MasterServer2.vdf is a cache and can contain outdated IPs.

Re: [hlds_linux] HL1 master server acting up?

2011-12-14 Thread pizzahut
I found this:

1) Although in the "MasterServer2.vdf" port 27010 is advertised, the
hl1 master server is currently on port 27011. The Steam server browser
is apparently using the latter.

2) Some service is still active on port 27010 on the same IP, but as
mentioned earlier the reply from this port is an empty packet.

3) Servers need to restart to get the new master server port.

So for server owners the fix is a restart.

For third party tools the work-around is to try the other, not
advertised port (27011), if port 27010 returns an empty packet.
