Hi,
I have a debian x64 24G at Kimsufi since 1.4 years, and i've no problem about
that. Located on North of France, I've a 24ms ping on CSS w/ 24 players.I run
10 TS3 Servers, 3 CSS, 1 TF2 and 3 MC Servers. No lag, also when full. I also
have all my websites who run on the server, and I haven't any problem.

I've always used CentOS, is there any reason to use debian over it (seems
everyone uses debian)?

I run my server from Kimsufi, and have never had any issues. The connection is
good (1Gbit), and I run 2 Minecraft servers, 1 TF2 server, a TeamSpeak server
and 3 websites with nginx, no hiccups or issues, with debian.

I found their support to be slightly inefficient though, our server got hacked
once (one of the admins got a keylogger), and it took them several days to get
it back up, even though we called them several times, they said it would 'be
back within 24hrs' 3 times. Apart from that, everything is good.

: 3% CPU / 8.5% MEM / 124:21.47 uptime (var -Xmx2G defined on java) (Java
packets loose are possible)

Ks 24g can host many game servers, also as provider. Uptime of my server

is 99.96% ( 3h58m down after 541d as every 30m checkup )

The Source Engine didn't use so many ressources.
When empty, I've that "stats" result on game console: (no tickrate

defined)CPUIn (KB/s) Out (KB/s) Uptime Map changes FPS Players
  Connects0.00 0.00 0.00 0 0
66.780 0

and there is the "top" SSH command result:
for srcds_linux : 2% CPU / 0.4 MEM after 83:41.12 uptime (no addons /

plugins installed)for minecraft, now: 3% CPU / 8.5% MEM after 124:21.47
uptime (-Xmx2G defined to java)

The KS24G is really usefull to host game servers with a good average

usage. Also to sell / rent gameservers :)by a HTTP monitoring, the
dedicated server was down 3h 58m after 541 days (2010/10/28) (checked every
30 mins).

One tip I'll give you, is if you're going to run minecraft, which is a
resource hog, run it with nice -n1

For some reason, this DOESN'T seem to negatively affect minecraft to any
detectable degree, probably because it runs at 20 ticks per second and so
has more wiggle room in the scheduling

Thanks to everyone, a few more things to finish:
Any chance I could have the IP of your tf2 server so I can try it out? Email it
directly to neobened...@hotmail.co.uk if you don't want to put it here.
How many slots do you have per MC server?

Re: [hlds_linux] Kimsurfi

2012-04-21 Thread Hugo R .

15+ may be too many, I think. Or, if there is ONLY hlds servers running, it
will be ok.But, if you also have MC servers, I don't think so.
Here is, as I think, what can be the maximum on the server:5 to 10 hlds servers
(12 max)5 MC servers as 2GO (or) 3x (2 to 3G) + 1x 10Gup to 10 TS3 Servers of
512 slots (warning; since monday, TS USA allow only 1 server by dedicated
server)Apache2 + php + other stuffs
think to secure the server when you get it, because the default domain
(ksXX.kimsufi.com) is often scrawled by bots
If you want any help, I'm available by this mail (or) via my private, just by
mailing me i'll give you the adress).
And oh yes, the tech support (in case of a physical incident / problem / ask)
is really reactive. Also, they answer by twitter if you want to ;)
as playing on MC, I haven't lags. As hlds servers (source engine), my ping is
about 12ms, and 61ms if the servers are full.

2012-04-21 Thread Hugo R .

oh sorry, the enters didn't work =/
SSH Top command:
- Srcds_linux : 2% CPU / 0.4 MEM / 83:41.12 Uptime as no addons / plugins (no
tickrate defined, 66.78FPS)- Minecraft (craftbukkit w/ plugins) : 3% CPU / 8.5%
MEM / 124:21.47 uptime (var -Xmx2G defined on java) (Java packets loose are
possible)
Ks 24g can host many game servers, also as provider. Uptime of my server is
99.96% ( 3h58m down after 541d as every 30m checkup )

Re: [hlds_linux] Kimsurfi

2012-04-21 Thread Hugo R .

The Source Engine didn't use so many ressources.
When empty, I've that "stats" result on game console: (no tickrate defined)CPU
In (KB/s) Out (KB/s) Uptime Map changes FPS Players Connects0.00
0.00 0.00 0 0 66.780 0
and there is the "top" SSH command result:
for srcds_linux : 2% CPU / 0.4 MEM after 83:41.12 uptime (no addons / plugins
installed)for minecraft, now: 3% CPU / 8.5% MEM after 124:21.47 uptime (-Xmx2G
defined to java)
The KS24G is really usefull to host game servers with a good average usage.
Also to sell / rent gameservers :)by a HTTP monitoring, the dedicated server
was down 3h 58m after 541 days (2010/10/28) (checked every 30 mins).

Hi,
I have a debian x64 24G at Kimsufi since 1.4 years, and i've no problem about
that. Located on North of France, I've a 24ms ping on CSS w/ 24 players.I run
10 TS3 Servers, 3 CSS, 1 TF2 and 3 MC Servers. No lag, also when full. I also
have all my websites who run on the server, and I haven't any problem.

I'm looking for a cheap dedi near the UK which can run a web server, MC server
and a tf2 server. What sort of performance could I get out of the 24G on this?
(How many TF2 servers/slots)
