Re: [hlds_linux] vpk files

2013-04-20 Thread thesupremecommander
I believe that server-side VPK downloads are not supported right now. It
will have to be loose files.

[hlds_linux] Server or Item server issue?

2013-04-20 Thread Frank
I have users reporting and I've seen this myself that when they obtain an
item from a trade the information isn't instantly displayed on the screens.
Also it seems that unless the user is pressing the default or selected
button to display the traded item and a follow up trade request is being
sent that the item is then displayed on the screen to all when they select
to trade with the other person.

This sounds rather stupid and I feel stupid for asking (is hard to explain)
since I'm sure it's an issue or something changed with the item server but I
could be wrong and this could be something that is sending/receiving
information from the server itself to the item server upon connection to
steam.

Can someone either verify they have seen this or explain it better so Valve
can look into it?

Thanks

[hlds_linux] vpk files

2013-04-20 Thread Erik-jan Riemers
All,

So these vpk files, it searches them first. If found and used the client
will just download the vpk from the download server or just the single
files as it was before?
If it's the vpk file, how does it know when the vpk is updated with new
stuff?

Will it be a requirement for the client to download the vpk instead of the
single files on the download server? (when a vpk is present?)

If there is any docs on this behavior, let me know.

Erik

Re: [hlds_linux] Symlinked Server Setup

2013-04-20 Thread Abdulrahman Abdulkawi
The following currently exist, so I have them symlinked (as with most other
necessary files/folders),

tf2_misc_000.vpk
tf2_misc_001.vpk
tf2_misc_002.vpk
tf2_misc_003.vpk
tf2_misc_004.vpk
tf2_misc_005.vpk
tf2_misc_006.vpk
tf2_misc_007.vpk
tf2_misc_008.vpk
tf2_misc_dir.vpk

Will there by any more VPK files added after updates in the long-run? So I can
take into account whether or not I have to symlink any additional VPK files in
some updates.

It was over being discussed a while back. Then Dan revived it.

It will keep going until someone stops discussing it. So anyone else have
something to say or is this the end of it? :)
