For me, lazyness, pure and simple, at the time the servers were

2013-08-29 Thread Jonathan Price
If it's of any interest, although I don't actively run a TF2 server any
more, I've successfully run a HL2:DM server on FreeBSD now for about a year,
and it's never failed to run after an update. Odd in a sense, because it's
Linux compatibility layer is based on Fedora 10, but I suppose the libraries
themselves are from the base system which is far more up-to-date.

In fact, with the exception of this latest update and old Debian versions, I
struggle to remember the last time any Distro had a major issue with an
update.

We have narrowed it down to prop_static's with VPhysics as their solid

Re-install steamcmd to another folder (fetch new package and install it)
and then update your game. Then run with option validate again.

That really sounds like incomplete installation.

i sure hope its not your *.ain files that are corrupt in the maps folder.
Delete those and update and try again. (not saying it will fix it, but it
could)

2013/8/29 ics i...@ics-base.net

Re-install steamcmd to another folder (fetch new package and install it)
and then update your game. Then run with option validate again.

That really sounds like incomplete installation.

We have narrowed it down to prop_static's with VPhysics as their solid
type. Something weird in the collision engine?

Also, if you backstab someone with the Your Eternal Reward or Wanga
Prick, your character portrait will continually trigger their action
item's sounds. Not sure if the other players can hear that or not
(probably not, but I'm not sure).
