RE: [hlds_linux] logaddress_add @ Alfred
Yes I already know that but would be nice to have a different command to list the log addresses And I also mentioned that HL1 based severs the log address can be added twice before it says that IP is already in list which is causing problems for my irc bot since it is recording bans twice, so I have to manually go through the database and delete the extra entry. I already know that the bans isn't live, I've always known this... you missing my point "all I want to know is" the message when someone gets disconnected from a HL1 Based server if they are banned by vac which is obviously for previous cheating violations, like I showed below the HL2 Based message is. Tbh there's lots ways they can do it Alfred whats the plans for the bandwidth situation i mean u want to host more and more games on steam network soon u gonna have huge bandwidth bills/problems, why not create a system where it gives us fast downloads or something and save yourself a few bucks too, lucky what richy suggested below. This would allow any lan party running a proxy (SQUID or IAS) to provide the updates at full network speed once the first download had finished. GSP's could also get there steam content from proxys either put in place by there ISP or by manually editing the hosts file to point to a local server not a steam one. The amount that is downloaded is stupid. I do a fresh install of HLDS server (Cstrike) on a linux box and im sure half the stuff installed is not used. Why should be all have to download it if we are not going to use it. This is a case of Valve not helping themselves. GSPs and Clans with a "root server" would have their own content server so lots of steam clients will never reach the Real Content Servers for downloading. Such a Custom Content Server could be used at Lanpartys, too. THAT would be great. Total of 2.0gb throughput.. On average, that's roughly 53mb available data pipe for each of the 40 servers. That's still not much better than most standard hosting centers have. Chances are pretty high that they're not dedicating dual DS3's to each of those 40 update servers either. Per Steams server count, and the SteamPowered published information, there are currently 4100+ (at this moment) dedicated gaming servers online, and near 100,000 end users during peak times, when updates roll out, everyone will be hitting those 40 update servers pretty heavy. Let's just say that each dedicated server and end user has only a 1.5mb connection for ease of the math and if my math is correct (grin): 104100 connections x 1.5mb: 109,156,761,600 bits p/sec (109Gb) Steam has 2.0Gb available for them to communicate with. -- Micheal Patterson - Original Message - From: "Simon Garner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2004 10:19 PM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Steam Updated Tool Speed On Wednesday, July 14, 2004 10:32 AM NZT, Micheal Patterson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > It's a mathematical problem. Unfortunately Steam doesn't always pick the closest server to you (geographically or network-wise), and since there's no way to tell it which server to use you might end up downloading from Romania at 2kb/s. -Simon ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

My FPS is LoooW very low I gonna try this sys_ticrate but whats best valve to start at -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mad Scientist Sent: 03 February 2004 20:56 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] new cpu usage record? According to the great words of hondaman: > Oh, ok. Mine is 100. And let me guess. The higher the sys_ticrate, > the higher the cpu usage? Yes. And if yours is at 100 and you're only getting 50 fps, then setting it higher won't increase your frame rate. Leave sys_ticrate alone and check your kernel settings. -Mad -- http://www.madslab.com "A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof.
