[hlds_linux] Emergency Over
If I'd received a copy of my last mail to the list, I'd reply to that. Unfortunately I haven't hence the new thread. I solved my little problem about the Steam content server being impossibly slow. I used GCFScape to extract the contents of 'condition zero.gcf' on a Windows client, then FTP'd it across to the server. Job's a good 'un. A quick run of Steam over it showed a couple of small .txt files missing, but on the whole I've saved myself a whole load of sweat and considerable agro. The GCF even contains the Linux .so files!!! I presume this will work on any other Steam-based game, so there's a nice handy hint for all you admins frustrated with impossibly slow updates, and thank you very much Ryan Gregg (GCFScape author). I am exremely grateful for your program. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] Plea!!!
I know this is inappropriate for this mailing list - but hey it's not another flame thread ;) - but I need some kind soul to do me a massive favour. I'm running a LAN party tomorrow and have been trying for over 6 hours to download the czero stuff over Steam from a 100mbit connection. Unfortunately steam's only sending me to some content server in the states (I'm UK-based) which appears to be connected by a GSM dialup (I think the guy on the end of it is stuck in a train tunnel atm!) hence I've not gotten very far (about 20 files!). Could someone please do me a favour and give me access to a tarball of the current stock czero directory? This is just for a one-off offline server, so back away from those rootkits ;) Alternatively, can someone tell me how to force Steam to use a different content server? The dod and cstrike came flying down at an appropriate rate... Many thanks in advance. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Re: [hlds_linux] sv_downloadurl suggestion

Re: [hlds_linux] Problems with HLDS Update Tool
Erik Johnson wrote: There will be a new version of the HLDSUpdateTool released in the near future (a couple of hours maximum) that will roll back the verify functionality that is causing server administrators problems. One point I'd like to raise on the subject of the updater (steam binary) is could we PLEASE have a connection timeout set on it? This goes for the Windows user client too. In the past I've started it, left for work, and 10 hours later it's still sitting there having done nothing while I've got a ton of users complaining they haven't been able to play cs all day. With timeouts implemented I could just leave it in a while(1) loop instead of having to nurse it through the process... ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
