[hlds_linux] Running TF2 server on P3 hardware in Linux (bad bone weight) please confirm
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Hey All, So I have a P3 linux server I run CS:S on and thought i'd dedicate it to TF2, read through some of the old postings to his mailing list and it looks like the P3 doesn't support some processor function the newer TF2 engine needs in order to run on Linux? Is that correct? Can someone please confirm? I'm getting the bad bone weights messages along with the errors at the end of the debug.log but looking through the postings it looks like the conversation died off after talk of support for FCMOV? Thanks for your time. llama -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

But it should return map not found error imo. Correct, it is dm_steamlab, but i specified it correctly on the command line, i wasn't cut and pasting... like you said it should return an error and it isn't the console won't return a status either even though it will report the variable of hostname or mp_timelimit Message: 8 From: "Glenn Shannon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] why isn't this working? When I added the varible it did change the max players listed from the default of 16. still can't connect though. It would be nice if the support section of steampowered.com had all of this info... seems like ever since STEAM the server support has pretty much dissapeared... not slammin steam or anything but guess how long it took me to find out how to properly use the updatetool (like what to specify to update a counter-strike source server) it sure wasn't on steampowered. Come on guys I know someone has experienced problems running source on dual procs under linux... ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

>Dude, set the time limit of the map to several hours >but only have the >map >you want in rotation. Why is this so hard to >understand? There's no >reason >to have one round last all that time. I already have a rotation and server configuration setup when a time limit is in place, i'd rather make one setting change than waste the time I have already spent creating a full server rotation. If there is a log file size setting, this seems the best method to me. The way I have it setup now all I have to do is a simple changelevel and the server becomes a multimap rotation with specified settings per map, your way I would have to change multiple files comapred to one setting in server.cfg... it's not as easy when you run multiple plugins... but thanks for your kind and understanding reply. I think the closest i am to a fix right now is typing in log off and log on 2x a day, not optimal but it would work... wish there was a way to get crontab to be able to interact with the session.. anyone know how to do that? ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] Re: Linux CS 1.6 server update causing crash
Ok I just read through the past mailing list errors and I see this is known and being worked on... sorry for the lack of due diligence ;) i know there is a reason i joined the mailing list.. now if I can just figure that out... =P --- Some Llama <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Ok my bad i just found out this was fixed in the > october 3rd update, thing is it still caused people > on > my server to crash and I know i had the update... > > So I tried updating my server and it did update the > linux version from 21 to 23, now when i start the > server it crashes with: > ./hlds_run: line 424: 31758 Segmentation fault > $HL_CMD > > I saw on some of the forums that a "mani" plugin was > causing this to crash but I am not running this > plugin.. does anyone know a workaround for this? > > Does the server HAVE to be running the latest server > code in order to squash this exploit? > > I am running the AMX mod and I would rather not have > to disable this if at all possible... and on our > private server that is NOT running any plugins, the > server still crashes with the same error listed > above... > > Thanks, > Devin > --- Some Llama <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > FYI there seems to be a new exploit in the wild, > it > > causes all connected players to crash and > discconect > > on a linux server running CS 1.6, server does NOT > > crash nor does it record what is happening in the > > logs > > (from my initial review). > > > > I was in game when it happened, it looks to be an > > exploit that has to do with sending long strings > of > > text via spectator chat or regular chat, the > person > > sent this string 2x as spectator but then when he > > joined the game and sent it it crashed the > clients. > > > > When the text was sent it wasn't readily apparent > > who > > was sending it and just displayed as if it was a > > message from the server, i know the person did not > > have rcon access. > > > > Running Redhat linux, latest CS 1.6 server > > Thanks, > > Devin > > > > ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] Re: hlds_linux digest, Vol 1 #4684 - 1 msg
Ok my bad i just found out this was fixed in the october 3rd update, thing is it still caused people on my server to crash and I know i had the update... So I tried updating my server and it did update the linux version from 21 to 23, now when i start the server it crashes with: ./hlds_run: line 424: 31758 Segmentation fault $HL_CMD I saw on some of the forums that a "mani" plugin was causing this to crash but I am not running this plugin.. does anyone know a workaround for this? Does the server HAVE to be running the latest server code in order to squash this exploit? I am running the AMX mod and I would rather not have to disable this if at all possible... and on our private server that is NOT running any plugins, the server still crashes with the same error listed above... Thanks, Devin --- Some Llama <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > FYI there seems to be a new exploit in the wild, it > causes all connected players to crash and discconect > on a linux server running CS 1.6, server does NOT > crash nor does it record what is happening in the > logs > (from my initial review). > > I was in game when it happened, it looks to be an > exploit that has to do with sending long strings of > text via spectator chat or regular chat, the person > sent this string 2x as spectator but then when he > joined the game and sent it it crashed the clients. > > When the text was sent it wasn't readily apparent > who > was sending it and just displayed as if it was a > message from the server, i know the person did not > have rcon access. > > Running Redhat linux, latest CS 1.6 server > Thanks, > Devin > ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] Re: hlds_linux digest, Vol 1 #4684 - 1 msg
FYI there seems to be a new exploit in the wild, it causes all connected players to crash and discconect on a linux server running CS 1.6, server does NOT crash nor does it record what is happening in the logs (from my initial review). I was in game when it happened, it looks to be an exploit that has to do with sending long strings of text via spectator chat or regular chat, the person sent this string 2x as spectator but then when he joined the game and sent it it crashed the clients. When the text was sent it wasn't readily apparent who was sending it and just displayed as if it was a message from the server, i know the person did not have rcon access. Running Redhat linux, latest CS 1.6 server Thanks, Devin ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
