RE: [hlds_linux] An ask to Valve
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and others well said and I see tha you get what I aam trying to say! And I do not hate Valve either! I started with TFC and then went to CS. It has been a fun venture over all. It is just that the frustration level builds and builds, until a server op has to vent or go crazy :) And yes I have ran all the third party anti's, geez Stefan Huszic's do you think I have just buried my head in the sand and come to the conclusions the cheaters have won without trying everything out there? Come on! Go to any of the CHEATER Sites and they proudly display what is VAC or CD Proof. Nothing is 100% and each and every anti out there has its own plus and minus features. I for one would love to see PB return or VAC and CD work together. HLG appears to me to have lost its edge. And I agree Valve appears to have its hand in way to many projects, thus stumbling! Focus focus focus Valve...lol... I am not a software writer so I have to put my faith in Valve, and I would rush out and purchase CS again and again if Valve would solve the CHEATER Problem because my friends and I are long time CS Players who really love this game! We want to see CS and TFC survive, we really do! I'm not sure what methods you're trying to use to reboot, but try: init 6 or maybe: shutdown -r now If these don't work, what errors do they show? Also, try: uptime to see if the box actually went down or not. I've seen boxes that reboot fast enough that it seems you just lost connection due to flaky network causing you to re-login but it actually rebooted. -Mad -- Madness is soil in which creativity grows - Chris Bielek ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Can you help please? I joined my usual server (80.71.2.84:27016 [5SI]Public Smoking Shed) a few days ago and was kicked to console with the follwing message: * You have been automatically disconnected from this secure server because an illegal cheat was detected on your computer. Repeat violaters may be permanently banned from all secure servers. * screenshot: http://reidme.info/misc/vac_screeny.jpg It was a fresh install of CS that morning as I had installed the Merc pack the night before and found the player models too confusing and I'd lost the function of the variable crosshair to show aiming stability. I re-installed HL + CS, and backed up the sounds/sprites/models dirs and installed the Mercenary Pack v2.5 for Counter-Strike (http://clanfmc.xrs.net/). I replaced the models folder with the backup but kept the sprite and sound changes. I also downloaded HLirc (http://www.cscentral.com/hlirc/), which is an irc client for the Half Life console. These are the only two changes to my HL install. I unloaded the HLirc script from Mirc as soon as it happened. I went back to the server and I never got kicked again. Until the kick showed up on the servers stats page, and a few clan members pushed the CL to ban me from the server all together. Below are the specs of my system: WinXP Geforce 2 MX 64mb (using Detonator drivers) Athlon TBird 700mhz @ 133x7(933mhz) 256MB ram SBlive player 1024 Only other games installed are Red Alert II and Yuris revenge. The server in question is run by www.clan-hq.com Basically, some people now think I cheat, and they are wrong. I'd like them to know they are wrong. (clean users that is grrr) Concur 100% - Børge, I congratulate you for your banning efforts; I'm doing the same thing (though with not as many servers). As far as I'm concerned, if Valve Anti-Cheat says someone is cheating, then they're cheating. If Valve aren't going to provide any documentation to their software, then, well, bad luck - I'll be telling my users that they were banned because of (not by) the official anti-cheating mechanism, and if they have problems with that, they can take it up with someone else that isn't me. Sorry Valve guys, I appreciate your efforts but I'm not prepared to spend any more of my own time which I could be using to do other more interesting and useful things fixing your mistakes and covering for your problems. -- trog ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
