RE: [hlds_linux] Server not listed in Steam master server list
Don't forget that you also need 27015 TCP for rcon. (I assume this would change to follow the server port as well). So for those keeping score: Outgoing Make all available Incoming 27009 - 27014 UDP Server Port UDP All established TCP/IP Server Port TCP for rcon Hows' this look Alfred? Is there any additional needed for HLTV or VAC? Snewo P.S. This is definitely different than what I'm currently allowing in. I could have sworn we were also told to open up 27000 thru 27008 and 27030 thru 27039. That must have been for HL1 I guess. >Message: 4 >Subject: RE: [hlds_linux] Server not listed in Steam master server list >Date: Mon, 6 Jun 2005 22:50:53 -0700 >From: "Alfred Reynolds" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: >Reply-To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com > >Don't block anything outbound (UDP or TCP). [hlds_linux] SRCDS Memory Leak
I'm running CS:S. I haven't tested if a server left empty for the entire time generates this issue, but I have seen the additional memory consumption (the quick step up doubling and tripling) happen when no one was on the server. To be fair, I haven't watched the memory consumption without srcds running. I think before I tell you that you definitely have a problem I'm going to try that. I just rebooted my box and I shutdown the auto launch of the game server. The main reason I posted was to see if other people are seeing the same thing. Is there anyone else on the list running Fedora Core 3 and using a tool to monitor their memory? The trend in mrtg tends to indicate a memory leak...help me out if you've seen it too. I see this: exit L 05/28/2005 - 00:53:59: server_message: "quit" L 05/28/2005 - 00:53:59: server_message: "restart" Memory leak: mempool blocks left in memory: 48 Memory leak: mempool blocks left in memory: 642 Sat May 28 00:53:59 EDT 2005: Server restart in 10 seconds When I exit the game server, but I always figured everyone saw it, so this isn't what I'm using to determine I actually have a problem. [hlds_linux] SRCDS Memory Leak
I think I've seen some conversation on this in the list already, but I'm wondering if others are still seeing the memory leak in srcds. I just configured mrtg to monitor my memory utilization and I can see the leak now. Srcds is the only application I use on the box and I'm seeing the following: - After 12 hours, memory utilization starts to creep up. - By 16.5 hours it has doubled. - By 22 hours it has tripled. I'm obviously adding a server reboot into cron as a short term fix. Fedora Core 3 - Fully patched 1 Gig Mem 3.0GHz Processor Am I nuts, or is this legit? If it's legit Alfred, any leads on the cause of this? [hlds_linux] CS:S Strange Server Lockups during map change
Ever since about 2 patches ago, I've been getting an occassional complete server freeze during map change. It requires a kill -9 to terminate the process because resuming the screen gives me no control back (it reconnects but exit doesn't work) and a straight kill doesn't do the trick. My log files just end in the middle of the change. Here is the tail of it: L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "mp_timelimit" = "20" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_gravity" = "800" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_stopspeed" = "75" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_noclipaccelerate" = "5" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_noclipspeed" = "5" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_specaccelerate" = "5" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_specspeed" = "3" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_specnoclip" = "1" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_maxspeed" = "320" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_accelerate" = "5" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_airaccelerate" = "10" L 05/08/2005 - 10:04:34: "sv_wateraccelerate" = These ARE happening after the game instance has been up for about 2 days, so I suppose a memory leak or such is possible. I don't have any memory stats from before the lockup, so I can't report them. I'm just curious if other people are seeing the same thing. This installation hasn't shown this problem for the 4-5 months I've had it up and the game server is the only function on this box. This instance used to be able to stay up for weeks. [hlds_linux] CS:S Player Name mixups since 4/5 patch
[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] Ever since the 4/5 patch I've been seeing some player name mixups. I have BOT names on the player list when I don't have any BOTS in the map at that time. It seems to always involve the BOT names in my experience. Is anyone else seeing this, or is it possible something was corrupted during my update? Any ideas on what to do to fix it? [hlds_linux] Spectator Bug - HL2MP
[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] FYI, I was in my HL2MP server (map was overwatch) and someone was able to join as what must have been a spectator but they were still playing in the game as if they were a third team. They did not show up in the list of users when you hit Tab, I had to use the console. This did not appear to be an "oops" item since the guys name made it obvious he was screwing around with the server. Snewo -- ___ The coolest e-mail address on the web and its FREE! [hlds_linux] Is this an RCON hole that needs to be patched?
[ Converted text/html to text/plain ] Just a quick question. I've confirmed that you are able to bring down the console and use the rcon_address and rcon_password commands to communicate to a server via rcon WITHOUT being logged into the server. Doesn't that present a hole which allows multiple password attacks? In the past some admins have used sv_rcon_minfailures to protect against this, but if you don't need to be logged in, then this can't protect you anymore right? You don't get to see the responses of your rcon commands when in the window, but all they would need is a logged in player to look for a sample " rcon say hello " command to know they've cracked the password.
