Re: [hlds_linux] [STEAM] Riot Shield
I think there are other exploits to the shield myself as well. Ive noticed that some players (same ones all the time), are able to stop bullets even when the shield is opened for them to fire. They do not even need to close the shield in combat. Ive even seen the shield give protection to a player from behind. Like if you aim for the back and head, it would be deflected like if you were facing the shield. This does not happen all the time, but it has enough times for me to notice it. Personally, I think the shield should either be reduced in its defense or allow the Ts to buy a terrorist version of the shield. As it stand now, besides any bugs in the shield and its uses, it it far to much of an advantage. - Original Message - From: Douglas R Taber [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 4:22 PM Subject: [hlds_linux] [STEAM] Riot Shield I'm sure others running the steam BETA have noticed this, but just incase it hasn't made its way to others and VALVe already. It seems as though everyone and their brother has found the most recent riotshield bug which allows players to carry a rifle but still be protected by an invicible riotshield. I'm just curious if VALVE can give us a status on a fix for this bug, since it makes it virtually impossible to kill anyone exploiting it. -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

RE: [hlds_linux] [STEAM] Riot Shield
We plan to release a fix for this (and a couple other shield bugs) soon. The biggest is that every server I ever join is usually full of really poor players, and its just too easy to go 30 and 5 or whatever outlandishly high score. Then I get called a hacker, and what not. Secondly, those bullet ricochet noises entirely annoy me... they seriously make me want to plug my ears. In a firefight, it just goes crazy around you. They are ok in DOD, because concentrated firefights dont happen as offen as they do in cs, due to the way that teams spawn. But when you get a full server of players meeting at various checkpoints in a map in cs, its makes me want to toss my headphones off. thirdly, there also seems to be a sound caching issue in the client, because new sounds tend to make the game skip consistently. I have never had this issue in previous hl/cs versions, and have heard others talk about it in servers as well. I have a high end pc, amd2100+, 512megs of ram, geforce ti 4600, soundblaster live. so in other words, for various reasons, playing 1.6 isnt all that enjoyable for me, a person who has played since a leaked beta1. ; ( kev ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

I'm be fairly sure the guys at valve do pay attention to us =D I'm still waiting for the steam client to update itself so I can play on the beta server I'm running =( My Internet connection from home isn't the best... might bring my machine to work and hurry it up a little =P Sux when ya setup a server and aren't the first person to play on it =) -- James. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
Re: [hlds_linux] [STEAM] Riot Shield
The sound issue is a definite problem I hear about everytime I am in the server. As far as the shield bug..I found out the one I was referring to earlier and it does work if done properly. Buy a shield with your knife out..no pistol. close the shield buy and pistol and it opens. From then on with shield open you still can't be hurt. Basics again. buy shield with knife close shield holding knife open with gun - Original Message - From: Kevin J.
