Re[2]: [hlds_linux] [srcds] deactivating sv_hltv
Hello, I tried this recently (once a few months ago and once today, btw) and it doesn't work. hltv_connect won't connect to the real srcds's HLTV or even print something. sits there, just like somebody did an alias hltv_connect wait; on the server. Do you mean this? hltv_stop - stops HLTV broadcasting hltv_stoprecord - stops recording (even if hltv_autorecord is 1) If you mean UDP listening on (default) channel 27020, have you tried hltv_port 0? I did not tried yet, but it may work... cheers, The Fool Hi all, Is there any mean to deactivate the sv_hltv cvar ? By deactivate, I *don't* mean to set it to 0, because it could be set to 1 by customers. It should exist a srcds flag like -nohltv so that it would not listen at all. Although those commands are useful, server companies need a way to disable hltv altogether so customers cant just activate it from rcon or a config file. hltv_port doesn't seem to work in the command line. Re: [hlds_linux] [srcds] deactivating sv_hltv
It's not a command line cmd. You have to put it in your game.cfg or server.cfg I see a bit of chance that hltv_port 0 in game.cfg disables hltv UDP port... Some ideas for workaround: - I'm not sure game server starts up if you do this, but what if you disable port 27020 on your firewall? - If hltv_port 0 works in game.cfg, you can set the file to 444. The users still can set things in server.cfg, but hltv is disabled. On the other hand, if you're a server company, you can fix in the contract that hltv port should remain disabled... These all just tips ;) - If we just wait for steam... cheers, The Fool Although those commands are useful, server companies need a way to disable hltv altogether so customers cant just activate it from rcon or a config file. hltv_port doesn't seem to work in the command line. Re: [hlds_linux] [srcds] deactivating sv_hltv
I asked Martin Otten about this some time ago, he told me this: To start a lightweight HLTV server, slave proxy just start srcds but without loading a map, just add hltv_connect ip:port. These relay proxies doesn't load any resources like maps or models, so they are cheap resource wise. SRC HLTV is naked right now. Once CS:S networking is stable (it already is quite stable), more and more features will be added. If people use sv_hltv 1 on their server to record demos, but don't want people to connect as spectators, they can set 'hltv_maxclients 0'. I will add a a new command hltv_relayonly to allow only other relay proxies to the master server and not spectators. So to have HLTV on SRC as it was in HL1, start the server with sv_hltv 1, hltv_maxclients 1 and then start another SRCDS without map, hltv_connect server:port and then this second SRCDS is the like the master proxy in HL1. Re: [hlds_linux] [srcds] deactivating sv_hltv
Hi, To start a lightweight HLTV server, slave proxy just start srcds but without loading a map, just add hltv_connect ip:port. These relay proxies doesn't load any resources like maps or models, so they are cheap resource wise. It seems nice, as it seems not possible to changelevel on such DS. Recording demos on the DS should not be allowed by default ! It's not the job of the DS to record demos. Same for broadcasting HLTV. A dedicated HLTV or simply players have to record if it is needed. That means companies will have to check such files or change their policies. So to have HLTV on SRC as it was in HL1, start the server with sv_hltv 1, hltv_maxclients 1 and then start another SRCDS without map, hltv_connect server:port and then this second SRCDS is the like the master proxy in HL1. But this can be modified by customer too, it can't be allowed. I dont think its perfect, but atleast its better than nothing. Thanks for all these informations ;) I hope they will work on that. cu, -- grosnours http://www.GameOnline.be Regards Per Lambæk www.HLTV.org Leif wrote: But then the Customers need a solution to use their own HLTV Server or free HLTV Server´s from blank-tv or hltv.org. Yeah, but i can understand the problems. How should the Server Companies calculate, if the customers with an 10 Slot Gameserver can start a 255 Slot HLTV Server ?? The integrated HLTV was bad for all...the customers and the Gameserver Companies.
