Wir, die Muppets, haben einen Beta 5.2 Server am Laufen. Wenn Du magst,
probiere einfach aus, ob z.B. der sv_download Bug funktioniert.

Really? wow...no kidding. lol duh. No one said it was a cheat. I
 never
 addressed the sv_download url bug.

Daniel, please reread his original post. He cites security issues
likes sv_download bug or stuff like that? He doesn't even mention
cheats, but you reply with a comment about cheats (which was grossly
inaccurate). That's right, you don't address the issue of sv_download,
instead, you totally change the topic of discussion. I was trying to
clarify that he wasn't asking about cheats, he wants to know about
security vulnerabilities. why you replied talking about cheats is
unknown. maybe a conversation with your self in your head, I don't
know. Regardless, Quit acting like a jackass.

  b) there were plenty of cheats pre-retail (beta 7.x).
beta 7.x was officially valves, and realistically there were not
 cheats.

Realistically, there were cheats.

People will still accusing of headshot scripts that didnt
 exist..and xyz
either had not come out yet or just came out right around that time.

Like Eric said, Spiked Models. I know Lambert was around in 7.x if not
6.x.

  c) Valve took over with the beta 5 patch, IIRC.

Go back and double check. Valve did not take over until 7.x series
 if my
memory is correct, when they changed the models to 512 and removed
 the
twitch and death animations. I started running my servers in beta
 5.2 and
Valve did not yet own counter-strike yet.

IIRC = if I remember correctly. I wasn't stating fact, trying to recall
as best I could. Obviously people have corrected this. I think Eric was
more accurate with the 6.x patch that contained the netcode.

Those issues were not a problem. Cheats didn't even exist in CS
   until Valve
took over and released retail version. 6.x series has less bugs
 and
   more
game play balance between weapons. 5.2 was when cs really
 started
   coming
together, but of the beta's 6.x series was the best overall.

Re: [hlds_linux] CS BETA 5.2 Server

2004-05-12 Thread Daniel Stroven
- Integrates Valve's rewrite of the HL networking system

Implementing code that is added by Valve to the very engine the Mod CS runs
on would indicate staying compatible. Implementing doesn't mean ownership.
Moot point anyway.

This is readme from beta 6.5 too

 - Integrates Nighthawk's Model Bounds Checker
algorithm

Alfred or Eric could probably answer the question and put it to rest. No
one

Go check yourself. Or to be more crass; RTFM
 Direct from the CS readme-

 BETA 6.5

Meaning Valve came in at least during beta 6.
