[hlds_linux] Day of Defeat: Source server preload
We have made Day of Defeat: Source available to preload. You can preload it into a fresh location or with an existing Counter-Strike: Source or Half-Life 2: Deathmatch installation. To preload the server run: Win32: Hldsupdatetool -command update -game dods -beta preload Linux: ./steam -command update -game dods -beta preload Note that the preload does NOT give you a functional Day of Defeat: Source server, the last little bit of the server (a couple MB worth) will be released when the client is later today. If you forget to put -beta preload on the command line then you will not get the preload, so don't forget it. - Alfred ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
RE: [hlds_linux] Day of Defeat: Source server preload
Thanks Alfred - is there any chance that you could give a pointer as to what the few remaining MB are exactly (file names maybe if we're lucky lol)? Just I have to put together the installation generation packages and scripts for our control panel and it'd be nice to know what needs to go in later so that I'm not making myself more work now. Doug wrote: Do we have to use the -beta preload or not? I started it without the -beta part and its downloading lots of files. Does this mean I have to do it all over again? Sounds like you are downloading other packages of the 5 needed. DODS Dedicated Server consists of: 'Base Source Shared Materials' version 7 'Base Source Shared Models' version 3 'Base Source Shared Sounds' version 3 'Day of Defeat Source Base Content' version 1 'Source Dedicated Server Linux' The first 3 are from normal Hl2 and as the name say they are shared and not dods depended - only for the Day of Defeat Source Base Content package you need the preload thing - Source Dedicated Server Linux is shared again. To answer your question. No you dont have to you can wait until you see the error and just start it again with the right params. You can also stop it anytime it will start over at the place again you stopped it.
