Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-15 Thread doc
That is what I was trying to illustrate. By saying I've tried everything
you leave nothing on the table left to explore. Instead of saying you've
tried everything just list the things that were done.

- Started without plugins
- Checked through your configs
- Make sure that map doesn't crash other servers
- Evaluate your start-up script
- Provide a log of when it crashed
- etc

I like to think we are a smart group 'o fellows (and lady, there's gotta be
one here) but we aren't clairvoyant; at some level you gotta tell us what
you've done.

But from the sound of it I would say it's probably an issue with the map,
as someone pointed out above me the orange maps are usually made in a hurry
and are pretty awful (other than just being boring) so if they are
stripping weapons and stuff like that I'd put money down that it's just a
map that Linux doesn't enjoy.

What *is* the basic stuff in your opinion? People need to know what
you have done exactly.
They might just tell you what you already have done or don't tell you
things you may have missed.

I really do believe you have tried everything that would be considered
basic stuff but it's really hard to start taking stabs in the dark if we
have NO idea what you've done.

OK...
Reinstalled HLDS (Beta and stable)With and without AMX/metamodChecked
everything configs, start-up script, logs
There isnt anything else I can do without knowing what the problem is.. I dont
have any information besides the crashdumps that I cant open.Im running 10
other servers on the same machine without problems and the only diffrence is
the maps. But it seems to be random, not the same map everytime..And we have
the basic aimmaps that are populare worldwide..
aim_arenaawp_indiaaim_aztecplaceaim_map_hloaim_desertfortaim_map_uspaim_dglaim_headshot

So, HLDS have problems with custom maps, and they should fix it :)

Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-15 Thread Daniel Nilsson

If you run with everytning default.

- no mods
- no custom maps
- no special server config´s

1. Add your sourcemod if still no chrash
2. Add your server config if still no chrash
3. Add some of your maps

What maps do you use can you list them. Perhaps some here can help you
with info about map x or map y. That they have issues and should not be
used.

That is what I was trying to illustrate. By saying I've tried

everything

you leave nothing on the table left to explore. Instead of saying you've
tried everything just list the things that were done.

- Started without plugins
- Checked through your configs
- Make sure that map doesn't crash other servers
- Evaluate your start-up script
- Provide a log of when it crashed
- etc

I like to think we are a smart group 'o fellows (and lady, there's gotta

be

one here) but we aren't clairvoyant; at some level you gotta tell us what
you've done.

But from the sound of it I would say it's probably an issue with the map,
as someone pointed out above me the orange maps are usually made in a

hurry

and are pretty awful (other than just being boring) so if they are
stripping weapons and stuff like that I'd put money down that it's just a
map that Linux doesn't enjoy.

Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-15 Thread ics
I ran a server of about 80+ custom maps. Though this is hlds, i run
srcds. Anyway, this might be worth a read.

Crashing is common depending on which maps are on the cycle at the same
time. I've found 3 maps that cause troubles while they are on cycle. If
they are off, server runs stable. So most likely there is some entity of
some kind that stays in cache and crashes the server in _any_ map, even
if the 3 maps that i mentioned aren't even on at that time (but have
been on previously, 1 or more). Just one map is enough to have this
effect. I have been unable to fix this, with trial and error i've found
the maps that were causing the crashes.

You might suffer from the same thing. It's one of those freaky bugs that
you just might not be able to fix.

Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS crash - dumps?

2011-12-14 Thread Steve Dudenhoeffer
Aim maps are notoriously unstable for me, also running on Linux. Any map
that manipulates a player's starting weapons or has a weapon_strip entity
in it will eventually cause a crash somewhere inside of CS's weapon
handling code, almost as though there's an invalid pointer inside of a
player's weapon pack or something. I've tried everything to fix it, and
nothing helps so it's just something I live with now.
