Very strange, our DOD:S server is in US East and in Europe now. But for some
hours of the day it is not in Europe, were it supposed to be. Our TF2 and
CSS servers are in US East and Europe too. So it seems Valve want to see
European servers in both regional lists.

Re: [hlds_linux] Serious Day of Defeat Source master server problem

2010-07-09 Thread Ronny Schedel

This is related to the response from the server, so IPs from the same region
are listed earlier than others. The DOD:S master server problem is
different, there is a problem with the region filter, the server shows up in
the wrong region. I have checked some others servers which have the same
problem, some of them managed to be listed in 2 different regions! In US
east and in Europe.

There was an email a few months ago from Zoid discussing masterserver
changes, there was some discussion about sv_region being depreciated
because it's being returned by location but I never recall seeing if
it was confirmed.

"One of the major new features is the new Masters should return
dedicated servers ordered by their geographical distance from the
player requesting the server list, making for lower latency and better
connections."

[hlds_linux] Serious Day of Defeat Source master server problem

2010-07-09 Thread Ronny Schedel
Hello,

we have a strange problem with our Day of Defeat Source server. We have set
sv_region to 3 for Europe. But the server is not listed for Europe on the
master server, instead it is listed in world (all) and in US east. We have
the same settings for our TF2 and CSS server, which are on the same machine,
but these are listed fine in Europe. We have this problem only with DOD:S.
Are there other region numbers for DODS for Europe?

Best regards

Ronny
