Re: [hlds_linux] Server degradation
SRCDS eats a lot of memory and is known to have small memory leaks that eventually build up. Restarting the service every few days is almost mandatory to ensure all players have no problems. I have a plugin that reboots them if they've been empty for a certain period of time, so generally I don't even notice it. You might want to try this new build of ES. http://forums.mattie.info/cs/forums/viewtopic.php?p=242607#242607 Admin wrote: > I am currently running es2.0 and mani 1.2s. Re: [hlds_linux] Server degradation
If you need to restart the server every day just so that it can continue to work then you are dealing with a totally crappy unsupported piece of software. Not saying that srcds, windows or linux is crappy, but something is, or its just you. But when you are asked "Why aren't you doing daily restarts anyway?" like its the most obvious thing you know something is wrong. I am currently running es2.0 and mani 1.2s. I was running these on windows before with no problems. Re: [hlds_linux] Server degradation
Why aren't you doing daily restarts anyway? You don't need to restart the server itself, just restart source and it will work much better for you. ; ) ~Steve -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Keeper Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 3:10 PM To: 'Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list' Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Server degradation Only thing I can think of is memory leak. [hlds_linux] Server degradation
Does anyone know what would cause the slow responsiveness degradation in the source hlds? I ran the windows version of srcds for a long while with no slowing over time. However, it seems that the linux version can only last about a week before players' movement becomes very jittery and the server needs a restart.
