Aside from the fact I believe that CD is still not working since the lastest
update to steam... (I haven't checked in the past few days, so maybe they
got it working again...)

>If you make it hard for the client/player then they will go elsewhere.

Let those people go elsewhere. CD is such a small program, and if someone
has installed steam, they should have no problems installing the client for
CD.

I've done both on our servers in the past... The good players will use CD.
Those who refuse to d/l it - don't let the door hit them in the.

Of course, if VAC was updated more often, this would be a non-issue.

I hope it's soon :/, I'm suffering from a cheating plague and have an insane
amount of demo's to review daily...

Despite people saying "go to Cheating-Death or HL-Guard", they just aren't
usable, Cheating-Death is great but most clients don't know enough to
download and run the client, and HL-Guard puts the CPU to hell.

Need VAC updates more often, please :-)

Re: SV: [hlds_linux] Vac update issues

2003-03-09 Thread Capriotti

Nope.

I have that update installed.

My hlds process restarts and then you see the initial map and the line

Server #1

This did not use to happen and my server has not suffered any deep changes
lately.
I vote for VAC update problems, yet I can't prove it.

Just remember that VAC modules are the only thing that change W/o our
"permission" on the servers. A good way to compare this kind of instability
issue is to ask guys running C-D if their servers are restarting too.
