What version of redhat do you use as the linux_base? I went from rh-9 and fc to gentoo. Dont use gentoo 2005.1 though.. It will generate memory corruption messages. 2006.x works good... /Bjorn On Fri, 30 Mar 2007, W0kk3L wrote: The problem isn't debian only. Ive updatet (to build 3048) a few servers to test this and i have to say its the same laggy / highping / spikes sh*** like leaving net_queuesplits at 5 (default). We are running testwise some servers with this new setting, and it deffinitely fixed the FPS Ping issue on our Debian Sarge systems. Still I hope Valve will *implement* this fix inside the software code itself. Re: [hlds_linux] high CPU usage on renice
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I have also run into this issue. I had a script in place that would automatically renice the srcds process to -20, which worked great. Somewhere down the line, that functionality broke, and whenever I use -20 (or anything lower than 0 actually) it spikes to 100% CPU and lags the entire machine. I've had to disable the script since and have been looking for a fix for a good while now. Giving the srcds process the highest prioritiy always helped in keeping our servers running smoothly with high shot registration. Now trivial system processes and other things take either the same or lower priority, which is less than desirable. A fix would be great. Our systems run Gentoo Linux with the 2.6.20 kernel currently, with 1000HZ set as well as CFQ for the I/O scheduler. Going to try out RSDL when I can test it to see how much it helps. -tsuehpsyde On 3/21/07, Tom W.
