RE: [hlds_linux] Cvar Lockdown Request
Yup, I agree for those reason also. I see most players setting their cmdrate to either 0, -1 or something below 10. Perhaps an option to reset their config if they used something below a set number like 30. I added the following commands to my cexeclist_player.txt for mani mod. I just change their configs when I'm on. "Updaterate" cl_updaterate 40 "Cmdrate" cl_cmdrate 30 You can also add other things like, "Mute Microphone" voice_enable 0 "Change FPS" fps_max 1 -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chris Jones Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2005 9:12 AM To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Cvar Lockdown Request I'm not satisfied with this "lockdown". I see plenty of players that set their cmdrate to 10 and their rate to 20,000. They skip around. This may be only to players that set smooth and interpolate to 0, but that is many players. It also sets an artificial ping time that avoids high-ping kickers. For both these reasons it is an exploit in my opinion. The server should be able to set min/max values for all of these settings (rate, cmdrate, and their upstream equivalents) appropriate to what sort of gamplay they expect, without having to use third-party addons that adjust it. I'm tired of someone with a bogus ping of 5 who is impossible to hit while moving -- because they can adjust these cvars against everyone's best interest. Surely this would be better configured as a minimum for a 512k DSL connection? Also, is it possible to cl_cmd available to the server for inspection and modification on CZ and 1.6? I answered my question,, finally had a chance to jump into the game and check the cvar values myself,, so yes, if the client sets the cmd rate to below 10 it will default to 10.00 with the main default of 30. :) - Original Message - From: "Kennycom" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 8:58 PM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] Cvar Lockdown Request > So at the moment even if they set it at zero or five, it will default back > to ten right? Hey Alfred, could you keep it in the game, but make it a cheat command that runs along with sv_cheats 1. Because a lot of people in the competitive CS:S community like the fact that they could watch suspected people with that command on. Is that possible? Players that do this skip around and are difficult to hit. They often use it to mask their real ping when it is astonishingly bad, thus bypassing auto-kickers. I have nothing against people with bad connections personally, but it really isn't fair to everyone else when they are impossible to hit because they warp around, or are able to shoot you after you have dodged behind a wall because of the latency correction "feature". We pay good money for a solid network connection specifically to avoid this kind of gameplay. In the meantime, Mani's admin plugin has the ability to run client commands. When I see someone using a ridiculous cmdrate, I set it to default values using this feature. Either the high ping kicker takes care of them after that (if they were trying to get around it), or they just leave (if they were seeking the advantage of being hard to hit). -- Chris ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux -- No virus found in this incoming message.
