I think that should be argh, as in:

Idiosyncratically euphuistic eccentricities - argh! - the promulgators of
triturable obfuscation.

My apologies for not being clear enough...what I meant was indeed

Idiosyncratically euphuistic eccentricities - argh! - the promulgators of
triturable obfuscation.

I hope this eliminates any possible confusion.

[Hornlist] Hornlist] worst piece of music!

2005-12-18 Thread geronimopfudgemuffin
Years ago, I was in a VERY good band and the librarian passed out the
parts to La Gazza Ladra. As principal horn, I dutifully dispatched
all my afterbeats in great anticipation of that little finger-fumbling
solo (though now it was going to be in in Eb, down a half-step) that
was coming up at any moment.

We got there and that little figure passed through the band, on its way too...

Not to me. I counted rests... the Alto-sax had the solo!

I seem to remember playing that La Gazza Ladra too. ;-)

But, then, you must have played the band transcription of Till
Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks in which the arranger put all the themes back ON
THE BEAT. So, imagine the opening horn solo starting on the downbeat and
continuing in like fashion... ;-)
