[Hornlist] RE: Horn Digest, Vol 48, Issue 26

2006-12-25 Thread Jeremy Cucco

Hehe! There's a few things that give me the courage.

1 - Walter lives only about an hour and a half from here.
2 - I got the inside scoop on removing the lacquer from the man himself

Besides, for a sanity check, whenever Bruce seems my horn, it's usually
followed up by "Aw, what the h*ll did you do to your horn this time?"

Wow! I think I'm kind of a wild and crazy guy in a lot of ways,
never bashful to jump in where fools fear to tread. However, even
I don't have a sufficiently high testosterone level to strip the
lacquer on a Lawson!

[Hornlist] sticking 8d thumb

2006-12-25 Thread justin ellis
Does anybody have an opinion on metal thumb throws? My conn 8d (2002ish) has
problems sticking. It seems to lock (the metal brace that has replaced the
string) the metal throw pushes forward and won't move. Osmun sells
http://store.osmun.com/browse.cfm?viewfrom=1&catid=62&step=2 a string linkage
that replaces the metal piece, it says cause of noise, but maybe its also to
correct the problem. Does anyone else have any problems with theirs? Is the
design flawed? I oil it regularly and have it cleaned, so the problem is not
maintence. Any opinion on the matter or how to fix it would help.

thank you,
justin
