[Hornlist] Beethoven quintet in E flat

2009-02-01 Thread Bram Bontje
I'm a horn player at Canadian university. I was looking for a piece
to play with a small ensemble and bumped into the Beethoven Quintet in
Eb, H.19 for 3 horns, bassoon and oboe on a Naxos CD of chamber music
(# 8.553090). It's a nice little piece and works well with the
musicians we have available.

Apparently the work was compiled from fragments by Willy Hess and is a
bit of a rarity. The parts were, at one point, uploaded to the IMSLP
website although currently they're blocked for copyright review.
Schott is listed as the copyright holder, but the music can't be found
on their website. I was wondering if anyone was able to download the
parts from IMSLP, or knows where they can be purchased.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Bram Bontje

2009-02-01 Thread Warren Van Camp
(2nd try)

It's also possible to order directly from Schott, although not inexpensive.
You just need to inquire directly, as they have to photocopy from their
archive. The resulting printing is completely satisfactory (I ordered it from
them last Fall). Many publishers can special print out-of-print parts from
archive if directly asked. I've picked up a number of pieces that way in the
past (eg. Fibich Quintet). My experience is that most will respond to email
inquiries. The following includes part of the communication (with contact
information) I had with Schott last Fall...

Warren.

Sehr geehrter Herr Warren Van Camp,

Ihre E-Mail-Anfrage vom 9. September haben wir dankend erhalten.

Das von Ihnen gewünschte Werk besitzen wir als Druckausgabe in unserem
Verlagsarchiv:

- Studienpartitur (ED 4517 / BSS 38698)
- Stimmen (ED 4529 / BSS 38699)

Das Anfertigen von Fotokopien ist möglich.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Monika Motzko-Dollmann

[it's available via photocopy]

As to your question regarding the payment, payment by credit card is fine.
Just send me
your credit card number.

By the way, the photocopies of the parts (oboe, bassoon, horns 1, 2 and 3)
would cost
around € 50.-. The precise amount still has to be calculated by the
responsible colleague
in our Production Department.

If you wish to place an order, please confirm. I will then see to it that the
respective
photocopies be made.

Best wishes
Monika Motzko-Dollmann
