Re: [Hornlist] rubbing with sand paper???

2003-09-22 Thread Anne & Larry Brunelle
You remember the old saw about the kid in band who
can't play a wind instrument, so they take it away
and hand him two sticks? Then, later, if he can't
do that, they take one away and he becomes a conductor?
When he can't do that, either, they take away the
remaining stick and give him a pencil.

I got too close to the metal microphone while singing
and when my lips touched it I got quite a jolt. D.M.McC.

At that point you ceased being an instrumentalist and became a conductor !

Must be very uniqer guitar players?!I've used the sand paper files on my
finger nails...
and I've played guitar most of my life. If this isn't a joke- all I do is
play my guitar more to toughen up the fingers.

And, I've never tried playing guitar with my lips either. The most
painful experience I ever had playing guitar with my lips was during an
electric short!In a small group I used a "borrowed" 12 string electric
guitar. It had a lose wire in it. This was many moons ago and we didn't
have lots of money. I got too close to the metal microphone while singing
and when my lips touched it I got quite a jolt.

And, sand paper on the lips???An extra 2 hours of practice of day would
work better
