I think some of the confusion here is that National Public Radio had a DID
program for a while, recently. May still have it, for all I know.

Blatant, unsupported opinion: Ever notice that all the best media program
ideas (in the English language world, at least) originate in the UK, at the BBC?
Then, some artless American copies it, usually poorly, for the North
American market. I hope the BBC is getting a big cut - they deserve it.

Desert Island Discs was a BBC radio program. Dennis Brain was interviewed
on the program on Aug. 13, 1956. I have it as a vinyl recording #8071 on
Arabesque Recordings as "Unreleased performances of Dennis Brain with
interviews with the artist and tributes by Norman Del Mar, Felix Aprahamian
and others.

I do not know if it has ever been re-released on CD.

An original BBC record.

Found this on Google when searching these words together: "desert island
disc dennis brain"...:

Solo Album Collection
... Horn Trio in E flat,Op.40 a Mozart : Horn Quintet in E flat,K.407 b
Marais : Le Basque
c Desert Island Disc's Interview d Memory of Dennis Brain e Expert from ...
www.geocities.co.jp/MusicHall/1921/album.html

(btw, when I left "dennis" out of the search, got Emerson, Lake, and
Palmer's "Brain Salad Surgery", which I believe Dennis had nothing to do
with...)

Copy of WHAT, the "Desert Island Disc" or of the Dennis Brain Disc.
Nobody can answer your question, if you don't tell us the title of the
music. If you cannot remember the title of the music, which Dennis Brain
plays on that disc, well, it seems hopeless - and you need a lot more
instructions, special about MUSIC in general.

I heard from my horn instructor that there was an audio publication
called
"Desert Island Discs" and they would do interviews with famous people
and
the main point was to ask them what they would take with them on a
desert
island, he said there was one in particular with Dennis Brain, that he
told
me a little bit about it. I was wondering where I could find a copy of
it.

Thanks,
William Foss
