RE: [Hornlist] Happy Holidays

2006-12-24 Thread hans
You mean: Happy XXX-Business-mas ?? O.K.. You are right.

If all people around the world would respect each other,
would respect what others believe, how they are, how they
celebrate, admire the wonders of life, all would be fine,
perhaps not as easy as some of us might think definitely
less profitable, but peaceful anyway. And life is a unique
gift for a one time, a gift which should never be harmed by
nobody. Life is the most valuable for every individual
alive.

Coincidentally, X-mas falls near to the calendarian end of
the year, even nearer to the solstice, which might give it a
reason for not-Christians also to celebrate, that days are
getting longer again, but it is opposite at the other
(dawn) side of the globe, where they celebrate, that it is
getting cooler again. So let everybody celebrate when how
 for whatever reason they do.

Buone Feste, Happy Holidays or just Happy Days , good health
success peace for the year to come.

Hans

It's easy to celebrate near the equator, as they say, been there done
that. It's the state of mind you bring. Half the world faces Christmas
time in the middle of Summer anyway.

Christmas tends to bring out the best in a lot of folks. It's that one time
when we stop and think about how we can live life, not how must of us do
face it. It we didn't have Christmas, we'd have to invent it, just to
remind ourselves that we can treat our fellow man with care, respect, and
common hope for a better world.

Of Christmas in different climes,

Even Irving Berlin, in the opening to White Christmas had a little fun
with the subject,

The sun is shining
The grass is green
The orange and palm trees sway.
I've never seen such a day
In Beverly Hills LA.
But it's December the 24th
And I am longing to be up North.

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas. . .

They celebrate X-mas just with Bikini, Santa beard
jelly-bag-cap, giant crystal X-mas fir candles as
everywhere. It is a big sale event, nothing left from the
original spirit, be it Christian or old nordic Jul.
Jingele-belle-jongele-belle kitsch Holy Night; but people
feed themselves fat like pigs drink like a squadron of
mercenaries. This in regards of our countrymen holidaying
there. But, perhaps, the local people, if they are Christian
modest to poor, well, they might celebrate Christmas as it
was intended to be, an intimate religious family
celebration, going to the mid night mass in the small
community church.

I do speak for one country around the equator, where I have
been right until few days ago haver been there the same
period two years ago. But they celebrate very modestly in
Thailand, except at the crowded tourist places - to avoid
anyway. But I can imagine, singles travelling to these
destinations, will enjoy X-mas on the beach, at the
restaurants or in the mas parlors. (Oooops)
Mai-pen-arai, sanug-sanug.

It's easy to celebrate near the equator, as they say, been
there done that. It's the state of mind you bring. Half
the world faces Christmas time in the middle of Summer
anyway.

Christmas tends to bring out the best in a lot of folks.
It's that one time when we stop and think about how we can
live life, not how must of us do face it. It we didn't have
Christmas, we'd have to invent it, just to remind ourselves
that we can treat our fellow man with care, respect, and
common hope for a better world.

Coincidentally, X-mas falls near to the calendarian end of
the year,
even nearer to the solstice, which might give it a reason
for
not-Christians also to celebrate, that days are getting
longer again,
but it is opposite at the other
(dawn) side of the globe, where they celebrate, that it is
getting
cooler again. So let everybody celebrate when how for
whatever
reason they do.

Best wishes to you, Hans, and to all. But I wonder what they
can celebrate at the equator...

Daniel
