Re: [Hornlist] Ligetti
Photocopy the following page and place the photocopy on the stand next to the first page to which you refer. No page turn is then needed. Hi all , can anyone tell me how the %^&*$!! can I turn pages in the Ligetti trio ?the guy forgot that we use two hands ! Alon Hello, I've never played it and probably never will, but I attended a concert where it was played by a famous hornist. He had made photocopies and glued the sheets into a strip, which he put on two stands. I immagine that it could be considered more or less legal, as long as you have the originals with you. I can't say it's the kind of music I prefer, but I had the impression that the piece was tremendously difficult. I don't know about this particular piece, but I played in a woodwind quintet for a couple of years and made my own parts for every piece we played, avoiding all rapid page turns. sometimes by physical cut and paste, sometimes by scanning and cut and paste. Page turns are always a problem. For me, the ugliest and the worst is when the parts are originally perfect, but some lame-brain librarian has copied them with the odd pages on the left instead of the right, which makes it easy on the eyes to go from left page to right page, but then every page turn is only possible gymnastically. -- Carlberg Jones Skype - carlbergbmug Cornista - Orquesta Sinfónica de Aguascalientes Aguascalientes, Ags. Re: [Hornlist] Ligetti horn trio
Incidentally, I think you can get copies of the parts in Ligeti's own hand, as oppose to Schott's version, which is typeset (or whatever the musical equivalent is). Ligeti's version looked nigh on illegible, which possibly accounts for all the errors in the piano part in Schott's version (errata included). Kit On Sat, 23 Jun 2007, C.J.L. A superb source for buying horn chamber music is Eble Music in Iowa City. Re: [Hornlist] Ligetti horn trio
I just bought it from sheetmusicplus. It's hard to find as their search engine is pathetic. Search for 'ligeti trio' in their search box, then when it doesn't find it, click the 'click here to try your search again' button, which uses a different search engine. It should be top of the list. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/pages.html?cart=33915797001546997&target=smp_detail.html%26sku%3DHL.49007493&s=pages-http%253A//www32.sheetmusicplus.com/search%253Fq%253Dligeti%2520horn%2520%2520%2526btnG%253DSearch%2526filter%253D0%2526sort%253Ddate%25253AD%25253AL%25253Ad1%2526output%253Dxml_no_dtd%2526ie%253DUTF-8%2526oe%253DUTF-8%2526client%253Dsmp%2526proxystylesheet%253Dsmp%2526site%253Ddefault_collection&e=/sheetmusic/detail/HL.49007493.html&t=&k=&r=wwws-err5 It's a wonderful piece, but it'll be a _long_ time before I can play it!
