Re: [HOT] Vanuata Islands, Pam Cyclone

2015-03-18 Thread Pierre Béland
Google Cyclone Pam Crisis map shows the track of the cyclone. We see that north
of Vanuatu, it does not pass close to islands. But there were report of some
vulnerability of islands in
Kiribati.https://mapsengine.google.com/06831253009698256830-04330043000251498305-4/mapview/?authuser=0

Individual contributors can go there, map and evaluate if this needs more care.

Re: [HOT] Post-disaster imagery for Vanuatu

Hi Denis,

I also think the offset varies a little bit from place to place so you
might need to adjust it more than once.
I think it is from a differing DEM used for the different imagery
products. As Bing and Mapbox have different imagery and mostly agree,
I'd suggest going with them for positioning in absence of any on the
ground data.

Hi all,

One additional note, please do not remove any buildings based on this
updated imagery. At the moment one major data need is pre-event
building footprints and residential areas.
There is nothing wrong with removing a building which is no longer
present. This is not abnormal, but is standard practice for features
which no longer exist.

I used the imagery and had a look at Port Vila. I ended up adding more
buildings than removing. Some were new construction, but many were
because previously unidentifiable features were not covered by the
differently positioned clouds, or damage to trees had made the
structures more obvious. Most of the buildings objects removed were
never buildings, but had been misidentified by the original mapper. Only
in very few cases were there clear signs of a building before and no
building after.

[HOT] eHealth Africa Borno 508 Health Facilities Import and Road Editing

2015-03-18 Thread Rafael Avila Coya
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi again:

I've prepared a second import of eHealth Africa data for Borno State,
this time 508 Health Facilities.

For that purpose, a wiki [1] and a workflow wiki [2] has been writen,
and a project in the Tasking Manager created [3] for this import.

The goals of this import are two-fold: 1) Import those health facilities,
and 2) Improve the still poor road network for that area, editing the
road access to all those facilities.

I write to this list asking for comments before proceeding to the
imports list.

A key element that I'd like your opinion is about the proposed tagging.

I based the tagging in the Healthcare 2.0 proposal [4], keeping the
amenity=* tag for compatibility with the traditional tagging of health
in OSM. Some tags are based on the Healthcare 2.0 proposal, but not
found there, like for example
health_specialty:obstetrics:caesarean_section=yes/no/unknown, that I
created as subspecialty from health_specialty:obstetrics. There are
some others that follow that schema.

One field that I consider interesting is phcn_elect=* (it means if
they have electricity or not in the facility). I didn't find any tag
for this in the OSM wiki, so I proposed electrical_supply=yes/no/unknown

Cheers,

Rafael.

[HOT] HOT Board Meeting Minutes - March 2015

2015-03-18 Thread Heather Leson
Happy Thursday folks (from Doha).

Please find the HOT Board Meeting Meetings - March 2015. [1]

As promised, these minutes include details about the Executive Director
Transition Plan and Interim ED Hiring Process. We are working daily to
coordinate with Kate and the current Board. We will have more updates on
the process and next steps. Also, we are looking on where to ask for help.

In the meantime, Can you please share the Interim ED job description with
anyone you think can be a great leader. We realize it is a short time line,
but the goal is to provide training from Kate to the new Interim ED to
ensure stability of the organization supporting projects and staff.
