[Hplip-help] Problems with paper

2006-08-11 Thread Florian Lindner
Hello,
I have a HP PSC 1610 which I run with the hplip driver 1.6.6 and the printer
has very often problems with tow in the paper. (<- the expression is probably
wrong but I think you get what I mean).
It is almost impossible to print 8 pages without at least one error message:
Unable to get paper followed by a paper jam followed by two blank pages and
then another paper jam
The printer is about a month old. Is this considered a defect and makes my
able to return the printer?
Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks,

Florian

I can print this pdf fine with the acrobat reader (Linux, CUPS).

Using KPrinter I have the problems with various other pdf, but I think all
pdfs are from the same source (physics department of my university) so it may
be a problem with the pdfs. But no other pdfs I have, have such small
margins. pdfs with more usual margins I print using KPDF and that works fine.

I think the problem is the combination of the KDE printing system and very
small margins in a document and the HP printer driver. (it used to work with
another printer/driver).

Florian

2006-07-19 Thread Florian Lindner
So it's a problem with the printing applicaion (KPDF or KPrinter)? Correct?
All margins in these application are set to 0, so there should be no text cut
off.

Thanks,

Florian

Hi,
were you able to test it with the document? acroread seems to work, since it
shrinks the page so it fits the margins. It is ok for that document but the
CUPS test page shows that the printer supports smaller margins.

Thanks,

Florian

Of course, it is attached. (attachment removed for post to the pist)

KPDF. Is there a way to print directly to CUPS so we can exclude KDE as a
source of the error?
I've just printed a test page from the CUPS web interface and everything is
fine, no empty page and it is also almost printed until the border of the
paper. Could it be a problem with PDFs only?

It is with every document, so you can take the one attached.

Ok.

Unfortunatly I was wrong about the empty page after each print job. It is
still being printed.

Another problem with margins: Regardless of the settings in the KPRinter
dialoge the printer truncates PDF file that have a very little margin. At
this time I have only noticed it at the top of each page. I'm unable to print
these documents entirely, the top is always missing. I've printed everything
with the KDE printing system. Is there another way to print PDFs to tell if
it is a printer problem or a KDE problem?

Thanks a lot,

Florian

I got no idea why, but the problem has vanished now...

Still I have the problem regarding the margins...

Thanks,

[Hplip-help] Empty page after each print job & save margin settings

2006-07-09 Thread Florian Lindner
Hello,
I'm using the HP PSC 1610 with CUPS/KDE.

After each print job the printer prints one empty page. How can I omit that?

Another question (don't really know if it's rather KDE related): In the
KPrinter dialoge I can set the margins. Default is user defined margins with
every margin set to 0. I want to disable user defined margins. It works for
on print job but it is not saved. I've found no option in CUPS to change
that. How can I change it permanently?

Thanks,

Florian
