[hugin-ptx] Re: ***GSoC Students important: Request for Information***

2009-04-07 Thread Lukáš Jirkovský

2009/4/6 Yuval Levy goo...@levy.ch:

 Hi students,

Please post in reply to this thread a list of other mentoring
organizations you have applied to. If you have applied to no other
mentoring organization but Hugin, just say so.

Some of you have been proactive and provided that information with your
 application. Thank you.

This year Google is using a new webapp and the advanced indication of
multiple applications is not yet implemented like in the old webapp.

You will save us a lot of time by giving us this information now.

Duplicate applications will be sorted out before the list of admitted
students is published, and having the relevant information early will
help us optimize our participation in that process.

 Thank you
 Yuv

Hi Yuv,
I've applied only to hugin.

Have a nice day,
Lukáš

[hugin-ptx] Re: ***GSoC Students important: Request for Information***

2009-04-07 Thread Faruq

Hi,

I have submitted complete application to Hugin and BlueZ.

Initially I also considered to work with CSCS and GNOME. But I
couldn't find any mentor there and my applications were not further
advanced any more.

Thanks
Faruque

With any of the 0.8.0 beta releases there is a Fast Preview window
which lets you visually drag unconnected photos to an approximate
position (unconnected photos are photos without any control points).

also, what type of lens is preferred for 360 x 180 panos? currently
the widest angle lens i have is 24mm. is a fisheye preferred?

Fisheyes make it easier, but a 'normal' lens is the only way to get
high-resolution end results.

[hugin-ptx] Re: Pure JavaScript pano viewer

2009-04-07 Thread Bart.van.Andel

Did you post a test blogpost so we can take a peek at it?
Otherwise, there are (free) products on the market to reduce/obfuscate
javascript code, for instance JSMin [1], YUI Compressor [2] and Dojo
Compressor [3]. This might help fit the javascript code into the blog.
I don't know what exact restrictions apply, so I cannot guarantee this
will work.

Best,
Bart

[hugin-ptx] Re: Pure JavaScript pano viewer

2009-04-07 Thread Ir. Hj. Othman bin Hj. Ahmad

The html and javascript files were successfully combined and tested
locally.

http://sabahheaven.blogspot.com/
When exported to blogspot, I had to remove html headers, but actually
blogspot will remove headers for you automatically. headers such as
body, html

I use blogspot the most because it is the most stable among my sites
but friends don't appreciate the 2D picture representation of a 360
degree panorama because of the distortions.

I need to get a pano viewer for blogspot. Your javascript is the most
ideal, if only I can make it to work.

Thank you so much for the tips. I was not aware of them before. I had
to delete comments manually.

There is nothing confusing about telling the students [...]

The interference of telling the students to do something without
coordinating it *is* confusing.

We've asked the students to put a link to their wiki page in the
application on the Google webapp. They can no longer change that link.
Your unilateral uncoordinated change of the pages on the wiki side
breaks the link and makes it more difficult to review the proposals.

Don't do that again.

Please update the Application Template and Student Proposals page
 accordingly.

No. The time to discuss the Application Template and Student Proposals
was before the application period started. It has been there for weeks
if not months, and you could have come up with your change request at a
less critical time.

Making changes in the middle of the action is detrimental. We will
finish the process as it is - it is only a matter of a few weeks now.

You can do whatever changes you want to the pages after they are no
longer needed for the process, and your feedback will flow into
improving the process the next time, if there is a next time.

Yuval Levy wrote:

Who is or was (or would be) actually confused? If the proposal is
already written, there is no need to do anything. I didn't ask to change
any proposal. I asked to tell students that still need to write to do it
in the right place.

We've asked the students to put a link to their wiki page in the
application on the Google webapp. They can no longer change that
 link.

There is no need to change any link. If you would have read correctly
you knew that a redirection page is automatically created if a page is
moved. No links get lost, be them external or internal.

Your unilateral uncoordinated change of the pages on the wiki side
breaks the link and makes it more difficult to review the proposals.

I had the impression you where more familiar with the wiki...

Please update the Application Template and Student Proposals page
 accordingly.

No. The time to discuss the Application Template and Student
Proposals was before the application period started.

See above. Sorry that I overestimated your knowledge of the wiki
structure and your sense of what is appropriate. However, *you* should
have asked how to do it best.

It has been there for weeks if not months, and you could have come up
with your change request at a less critical time.

Sorry, but Students started only recently to create pages.

Making changes in the middle of the action is detrimental. We will
finish the process as it is - it is only a matter of a few weeks now.

Do what you want but leave my changes in place - at least as long as you
don't know how things work. Please understand that I consider it a good
idea to host the SoC pages on the wiki. I take every precaution not to
spoil the usability of the pages or to hinder someone writing or using
them. A bit more confidence, please!

[hugin-ptx] Assistant Tab Layout Patch

2009-04-07 Thread Seth Berrier
Here's my patch. It changes the layout of the assistant tab so that the
text will not interfere with the buttons as reported here:

2736139: Button obscures text of error message
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=2736139group_id=77506atid=550441

2686486: Unconnected pattern text is cropped
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=2686486group_id=77506atid=550441

The auto-layout features of the boxSizer just seem to not work the way
things are setup and rather than beat my head against all the little options
that might be conflicted I opted for a slight change of layout. Instead of
all the buttons and text being in a single column now there are two columns,
the buttons in the first one and the text (as well as the little lens
parameter box) in the second column. Now, when the align text box overflows
it should overflow into empty space instead of the button below it.
