[hugin-ptx] Windows 2009.2 installer package: please test

2009-10-26 Thread allard

Hi all,

I made an installer package for Hugin on 32-bit windows based on:

hugin tarball 2009.2 release
libpano svn 1098 (=beta3 + small changes)
autopano sift c 2.5.1 final
enblend binaries from hugin 0.7 release

You can download it at
http://hugin.panotools.org/testing/hugin/Hugin_2009_02_installer_w32_RC1.exe

Even though this is based on what should be stable releases I call
this RC1 for this installer package, not in the least because I've had
very little time for testing. Haven't yet gotten around to making the
'no control point generator' version but that should be
straightforward. I won't have any time for modifications this week
either, but please test and report problems to the list. If nobody
finds problems, any of the developers with sufficient permission
should feel free to upload this file to Sourceforge.

[hugin-ptx] suggestions

2009-10-26 Thread Emad ud din Butt
Dear developers,

I have few suggestions.

   1. Most of hugin users are now asking for linear panorama like features.
Is it possible to add OFFSET settings in hugin. Like I define offset setting
for each image and than hugin stitches/optimizes following offset settings.
Or it can be done in fast preview screen. Where I can define offset settings
   for each image.
   2. Can we add grid like option in hugin. For example. one row, two row,
three row etc etc and I tag my images with image number. Like this image is
number 1 this is 100 etc... I tag my images in image sequence and than hugin
follow it while stitching/optimizing. This option can also help in making
   gigapixel images with hugin.

Testing should anyway be done on more than a single PC.

*you* have sufficient permission to upload the file to Sourceforge.

Steps 8 and 9 of
http://wiki.panotools.org/Development_of_Open_Source_tools#Release

I recommend uploading a 'no control point generator' and make a separate
installer for each CP generator, like Harry already does on OSX.

IANAL, but logic tells me that uploading to SF, whose servers are
located in the United States, is like importing to the United States. US
based Linux distributions, like Fedora/RedHat which has lawyers, made
the informed decision not to distribute Autopano-SIFT-C and the other CP
generators. Consult your lawyer before importing patent-infringing
binaries to the US. SF keeps tracks of who uploads what.

Lajos Höss wrote:

Hi Lajos,

this is a problem with the translations. The longest translation of the
text under the buttons in the toolbar (=icon line) determines the
width of all buttons in Windows (In Linux some buttons become larger
than the rest, making it functional but ugly).

this means, the longest of the translation for any of the following
terms determines the button width in Windows:

Center
Fit
Straighten
Num. Transf.
All
None
Photometrics
Drag
Crop
Identify
Show control points

This is the reason why Numeric Transform was abbreviated to Num.
Transf. in English.

The culprit is most likely Show control points, which even in English
I'm inclined to rename Show C.P.

However this is a short-term fix. We need a better fix to make sure the
buttons / functionalities are all available at normal screen width.

This will become urgent with the integration of the upcoming Layout mode.

[hugin-ptx] *IMPORTANT* Credits

2009-10-26 Thread Yuval Levy

Hi all

this community has been growing nicely for the past three years. I felt
that the credits given to all of you contributors were not enough.

The about dialog in the application had more content than it could
display, and was incomplete. The AUTHORS file in the distribution, a GNU
convention, was outdated and is anyway not much considered by users who
get the binaries on all plattforms, including Linux.

My intention is to recognize and give credit to *all* contributors.
Unfortunately I don't know about all contributors to a history that goes
back seven years. *You* can help, and here is how:

I've started a webpage [0] that eventually will list as many
contributors as known and their contributions.

Currently it is just a scant two columns page with contributors listed
alphabetically in the first column and some text describing their
contribution on the right.

First, we need to make sure that the list is complete. Have I forgot
some names? Apology. Feel free to add them directly (preferred) or to
tell me.

Second, we need to make sure that people's contributions are properly
listed. Have I forgot something on the right of *your* name (or of the
name of somebody you know has contributed more than what is listed)?
Apology. Feel free to add them directly (preferred) or to tell me.

Third, we need to unify the content and language contribution column. As
a minimum I'd like to have special mention for those who contributed
initially or originally a feature or a translation.

Fourth, which will come mch later: I would like to give recognition
badges, e.g. some sort of beautiful graphics that says coder,
builder, writer, translator, bug hunter, bug fixer, windows,
linux/bsd, mac.

Feel free to add!

[hugin-ptx] Re: Windows 2009.2 installer package: please test

2009-10-26 Thread RueiKe

Hi Allard,

I had limited time this evening for testing, but I hope run through
more tomorrow. So far it looks good!

Platform: Vista 64bit, using English interface for Hugin, Hugin
installed over 0.8.0.

Project: 155 image 360x180 with 5 shot 1EV step brackets aligned with
~17k alignment points. Previously completed this project with Ryan's
64bit build of 0.8.0

Observations:
Align - Works with no issues
Optimiser - Optimize Everything works with no issues
Exposure - Optimize low dynamic range with 1000pts per image work with
no issues
Autopano-SIFT-C - This version is verified to fix the issue previously
seen with the projection specification. Also, using --maxdim 4000
works with no issues. Only tried one set of 5 images and results were
good with max pts added with good spread.
Stitcher - Stitching a 15,318 x 7,659 pixel equirectangular
projection, fused and blended pano, with -m 3000 for both enfuse and
enblend - Still stitching, will report back tomorrow.
Fast Preview - Photometrics, Identify, and Show CP verified working.

I will continue checking it tomorrow. I also plan to test in Chinese
Traditional.

Regards,
Rick

[hugin-ptx] Re: Hugin 2009.4.0 (and earlier) CP gen. interface question

2009-10-26 Thread T. Modes

Hi

And next to that: the mentioned autopano is a (by now) somewhat older
program and only available for/on windows. You can use it on on Linux and
OSX if your run a windows version of hugin and autopano via wine.
It has already been suggested several times to remove the option from hugin
to reduce confusion, but there is still a number of devoted windows users
 that use autopano.

That's not fully correct. There is also a native linux version of
autopano.

A better suggestion might be to make it a conditional compilation step
 like: If Windows { display autopano as option} else {don't display}
This shouldn't be too difficult for a programmer.

Something similar is done. It works on windows and linux. On Mac,
where autopano is not available, there comes a message box, when you
choose to use autopano and switch automatically back to autopano-sift.

You did a great job and I do not give you the credit you deserve. Shame on
me.

You are right in that there are two options in the CP generator pane. I
never choose autopano because I know it's not available on OSX. I now
selected it on purpose and it works just the way you describe.
Very nice.

[hugin-ptx] problem with image rectification

2009-10-26 Thread aroleng

Hi all,

I try to write a small java program(it's more like a script) that stitches
photos automatically but I'm having a problem with the image rectification.
Maybe somebody can help me.
First I get the features with autopano-sift-c

autopano-sift-c --projection 0,50 --maxmatches 8 keypoints.pto img0_0.jpg
img0_1.jpg img0_2.jpg img0_3.jpg img0_4.jpg

Then I detect 2 horizontal and 2 vertical lines in each image and write the
coordinates into the pto file. So it looks something like that:

And then I want to optimise the coordinates and rectify the images with the
help of autooptimiser

autooptimiser -p -s -o keypoints2.pto keypoints.pto

But when I take a look at the resulting pto file with hugin or stitch and
blend it with nona and enblend no rectification is done.
So to get the desired result with hugin, I select Optimise Positions and
View(y,p,r,v) and afterwards I press Calulate Field of View. But I'd like
to have those steps automated.

So my questions is, is it possible to get a perfectly rectified image just
by using free available command line tools like the ones from hugin's bin
folder?
And if so, which parameters do I need to pass?
I'd be thankful for any hint.

Best regards

Fabian
