Non sms with a 14 track vtoc just so you don't have 13 tracks left for another dataset. Re: alter dataset blocksize
Hi, Why to preserve or change the date of the dataset? An user had a library (PDS) with the incorrect BLOCKSIZE, so the HSM backup/migrate did not work for this dataset, we asked to the customer to fix the dataset using standard procedure (create new one, copy, delete old & rename the new one). But... The user told us, it was fixed, so i went to check it, found i could perform an hsend backds ..., it was correct, and check the library info, found it with the correct blocksize, and also found that the creation date was the same, "it was not changed". It make me surprised, couse i have no explanation why this happens. Re: Book: What On Earth is a Mainframe?
I am sure there are many definitions. Here is one from http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/zos/basics/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.zos.zconcepts/zconcepts_159.htm Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS). An earlier form of the z/OS operating system. In current usage, the term MVS refers to those services and functions of z/OS other than z/OS UNIX system services, such as those provided by the base control program (BCP), a base element of z/OS. Sort of like "Linux" vs. "Red Hat Enterprise Linux" -- so z/OS is a distro? I don't *think* that's how IBM would describe it, but perhaps one of the IBMers on the list can jump in. (I am certain that "System z" is a new brand replacing "zSeries", which was the original point, but in no way does that mean your thought is necessarily invalid!) ...phsiii -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
