I'd check with IBM before modifying the DSCB1.

Can I modify the VTOC to change the attributes of a file? .. how?

Get the PDS command from the CBT.

I believe that's http://www.cbttape.org

Can you read the PDSE? If so, then I'd strongly suggest that you simply
allocate a new PDSE and copy the contents of the old one into it. Then
delete the old PDSE and rename the new one to have the old one's name.

The only other way is to use AMASPZAP to zap the VTOC. If you want to do
this, then I will say what parson said in Blazing Saddles to Clevon
Little: Son, you're on your own.

Good - you are currently supported. Why not open a PMR with IBM Support to
see whether they will help you (a) fix the file and (b) fix the root cause so
that it doesn't happen again? (Other customers would appreciate that.)

Re: ADR793E -PDSE indicators in the VTOC and VVDS do not match

2007-04-04 Thread John Laubenheimer
This is really a [EMAIL PROTECTED] guess here, and may need Mark Thomen to
chime
in here.

It sounds like you might have a duplicate NVR in the VVDS on the volume. Try
to salvage what you can from the PDSE in question by copying it to another
dataset with a different name on a different volume. Delete the PDSE in
question. Then, use IDCAMS to print the VVDS. Search the VVDS printout for
the dataset name of the PDSE that you just deleted. If it's not there, then
this is not your problem. If it is there, you should be able to do a DELETE
dataset NVR FILE(xxx) to correct this situation for the next time. (Point a
DD
card xxx to the volser in question.)

If you do have a duplicate NVR, and can't identify how it got there, you should
still open a PMR, since something is wrong, and this problem will only crop up
again. And, if you can identify how it got there, you now know not to do
(whatever you did) again!
