He's never hid his company affiliation, so I think you're off-base here. Norman's one of the good guys. As far as SYSVIEW itself, it's a nice product, but SDSF has caught up with and surpassed it in JES spool browsing, IBM has added many of its dynamic functions, and TASID, SHOWMVS, and MXI provide most, if not all, of the display capability, for a lot less $$$'s. Given CA's outrageous price increases and the fact that they stripped capability from Legent license holders, I no longer recommend SYSVIEW. Norman's one of the good guys. He may not hide his company affiliation, but as someone who follows ibm-main via the newsgroups, I can say that there is no indication in his posting that he works for CA. Possibly those of you following ibm-main via email can see a CA-based email address, but the newsgroup users cannot. Therefore, perhaps users mentioning their own products should include such relevant information in a signature block, which would be visible to all. Just my thoughts... The same functionality in SDFS is included in CA-Sysview. Sorry if you didn't know that. Most folks know who my current employer is. Since many folks ask about CA products I try to answer them or connect them to some one who can help them, I was a natural assumption. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of ibm-main Sent: Thursday, August 04, 2005 SYSN 3:40 PM To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: Re: EJES vs. IOF??? Shane said; Ed, Bruce, CC, et al make no attempt to hide their relationship with their employer Nor (in general) do we plug products. BMC has a nice functional replacement for SDSF that also works on JES3, but with the added benefit of offering integrated ISPF-LIKE functions browse/edit/search/compare datasets, HFS files etc. But ooh, ah, blech it's a gooey and clearly not what was being asked/discussed, so I did not even dredge it up. I don't mind vendors giving the occasional plug for a product if its fairly clear what the connection is. I was aware of Norm Hollander's employer and I wasn't bothered by his, essentially a one liner, pitch. I'd cut him some slack on it.
