If you have backups of the HSM CDS datasets and an MVS test system, you can restore on your test MVS system versions of the CDS datasets which still had that tape as an ML2 volume, bring up HSM on your test MVS system, and do the list TTOC there. There might be some migrated datasets that have scratched since the CDS backups, but you would at least be able to get an idea what datasets used to be on the tape. HSM TTOC for dropped tape
Is there any way to list the TTOC of an HSM ML2 volume that HSM no longer knows about (but is not scratch)? Re: HSM TTOC for dropped tape
Debbie, Besides posing an ETR to IBM, you might try contacting the folks at Mainstar.com. You may not be a customer but in the past they would be helpful anyway. Either way you get a definitive answer. Re: HSM TTOC for dropped tape
You can scan the tape for *CDD** records. Lots of entries for an ML2 tape but it is a list of all the dsn on the tape. I use FATS, eg //CDDEXEC FATSCAN,VOLI=205569,UNITI=(3490,,DEFER),TIME=8 0004 //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*,OUTLIM=8 0005 //TAPEIN DDDSN=HSM.HMIGTAPE.DATASET,LABEL=(1,SL,,IN),VOL=SER=205569 0006 ANALYZE DUMP,PRTLEN=32767,LBLPRT=FORMAT,MAJERR=1,RETRY=0,MAXTERR=1 0007 REPLACE LF=1,B=ALL,S=C'CDD' Jack Kelly LA Systems @ US Courts x 202-502-2390 -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
